If you want to become a great hitter hit rocks with a broom handle. In some players life this was probally a tobacco stick.

    2 things.

1st, every game you play someone is seeing you play for the 1st time and for the last time. What 1st and last impression will you make?

    And then my favorite.

Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.

Nowhere is that more true than in baseball.

    Best advice?

Boy when I was your age I was in Korea on the side of a f___ mountain freezing my a__ off. I didn't get to play games. None of those boys on that mountain got to play games. I had to p___ in a water cooled 50 cal machine gun so it wouldn't over heat. I watched other guys get their heads blown off all around me. We had to hump for days with no sleep and then fight all night just to stay alive. So don't come to me talking about how some coach made you run two straight hours. Dont you ever come to me and b____ about some coach and talking about some games. If your not tough enough to play those games then bring your a___ home from school everyday and go to work. I dont have time to listen to some kid tell me about something being tough. You dont know what tough is boy.

This was the advice my Dad gave me one day when I came home from two a days in high school. He asked me why I was walking funny. I told him Coach Davis got ticked and made us run for two hours. I swear thats all I said. After he gave me this advice I learned to keep my mouth shut. lol

softball coach during my first year as a head coach told me no good deed would go unpunished. that was pretty good

and of course, my favorite....son, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes it rains
