Dang, surprised at the EB score. Thought it would be the other way around.

    ER - 54
    McDowell - 13

Once again, not surprised that McDowell lost; a tad surprised by the margin, though.

The Blue Devils built a 23-7 lead through one and a half quarters. But a botched option play gave the Wonders the ball back, along with a glimmer of hope and they converted it into a touchdown and went into the locker room trailing 23-14. They added another score midway thru the fourth quarter to draw within two. But a field goal sailed wide left with one minute left and Mooresville ran out the clock. The Blue Devils got another strong performance from Halfback Jishaun Pinkston and QB Nathan Abraham.

    GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!

    Ragsdale 30
    NW Guilford 24

good ball game. Ragsdale had to come from behind and hold them on downs deep on their side twice in the last five minutes.

Glad the rains stayed away for the most part. I'll post more details later.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ragsdale gutted out a tough win tonight against NW Guilford (2-1). Game started well enough for the Tigers. NWG appeared to have no punter as they went for it on 4th down inside their own 20. Ragsdale couldn’t move the ball but got a 26 yard FG from Casey Redfern to go up 3-0. NWG marched right down the field on an 80 yard drive behind the running of Chris Kennedy, two point PAT to lead 8-3. Ragsdale scored one play later on a 60 yard run by Charles Thomasson, went for two, missed to lead 9-8. After Ragsdale held on downs again, Tim Romer hooked up with Cedric Miller on a 44yard TD pass, Redfern nailed his PAT for 16-8 Ragsdale lead after a wild first quarter.

Second quarter was all NWG as Ragsdale couldn’t move the ball and NWG controlled the ball on the ground getting a 1 yard TD run by Cruz, got the 2 point conversion to tie it up 16-16 at the half. Ragsdale couldn’t move the ball to start the third then helped NWG with penalties and let Chris Kennedy score on a no huddle, quick snap 45 yard run. NWG again got a 2 point conversion to take a 24-16 lead. Ragsdale continued to have trouble moving the ball but finally got a turnover as Nick Mearite recovered a NWG fumble near mid-field. Ragsdale offense finally picked up a couple first downs then got a big TD as Romer stepped up inside the pocket on third down and found Cedric Miller again in the end zone on a 26 yard TD pass. No good again on the 2 point try as Ragsdale pulled within two 22-24 with two minutes left in the third.

Fourth quarter found Ragsdale D step up their game and the offense didn’t let them down as Donavon Smith took it in from the 15 yard line with 7 minutes left to take a 30-24 lead. NWG moved the ball but Ragsdale held on downs around the 25 with over five minutes left, couldn’t move the ball (thanks to more untimely penalties) and after a sky high punt into a stiff wind gave the ball back to NWG on the 35 with about 2:50 left. NWG hit a third down TD pass in the back of the end zone abut was waived off thanks to an illegal shift. After that Ragsdale stopped them twice, the last as Billy Stone knocked down a pass at the goal line on 4th down.

Tough win but a good one for the Tigers. Now 3-0 on the season with a very tough road game at 3-0 Greensboro Page next Friday.

Some 'VERY' questionable calls in the 4th quarter of this one. Roughing the kicker call gives Hickory ball back and new set of down, later in same drive a pass 'hits' the ground & ruled a catch. Hickory takes advantage & scores TD to take lead. A.C. seems to find a way to give games away!

Totally agree Iron Man. Very Questionable calls in the 4th. Different game if one of those calls goes AC's way. Hate to blame refs. Cougars had some chances to score early, but didn't. Tough loss!!!
