    Watching Levi Michael for the first time, I had two thoughts;
    1) that's the best HS SS I've ever seen
    2) he sure doesn't play like a soph
    Maybe his early departure is an unforseen by-product of travel/showcase ball where his baseball development passed his grade standing.

    I think everyone will agree he can play at that level without any problems and congrats to him. I was told the teams can only have the 35 roster members at practice in the spring. Just wondering if Coach Fox asked him to come early or if it was his decision.

    He will be abe to play in the spring as long as he is one of their 35 players on the roster. As long as he is enrolled in school that's okay.

    Personally though, I hate to see a kid miss out on the Senior season, and the senior spring in school, the last prom, going through the graduation experience is certainly a milestone for any kid. I personally like to see a kid being a kid, but hey it is ultimately a family decision though and I respect that and wish him well!!

    This is news to me, but I intend to get the skinny tomorrow. But if this has legs, then I suspect Coach Meadows (of North Davidson) is right about now on suicide watch.:hanged:

    One thing it does is guarantee UNC won't lose him to the draft next spring. He's good enough to start day one!! He has NO weakness in his game that I've seen.

    Something to think about

    My son has went through something like this. I do not know when Levi played on varsity, but my son did as a freshman. He got to know his upper classmates well. He was close to them socially and athletically. As his age players made varsity baseball his social bond was more toward the older team mates. Now as a Sr he has no older buddies like last year. He may just think he has accomplished what he can in HS and want to move on. And I agree with Mtn dad he is the real deal this may work out well for UNC.

    putting 2 and 2 togather

    Lassiter signs for BIG bucks (for a 27th rd pick) with the Yankees. Levi forgoes senior HS season to play for the Heels.
    Factor in that short stop was average at best last year... after Josh Horton, there was a obvious drop off.
    Seems like the coaches on the "Hill" did some fast work to improve their team.
    I do agree with Coach E, Levi will miss some of the milestones from his senior year. On the other hand though, he seems to be a focused young man with a good idea of where he wants to go with his baseball career... "THE SHOW"! He's just taking the next step now.

    I agree completely, he may miss some of the high school "milestones" that you guys speak of. But to him they may not exactly be milestones. He may look at them as just another day his senior year. I do think that him getting there early to practice with the team, get to know the guys, and the coaching staff, as well as the campus may be more important to him then being at senior prom, or running out screaming the last day of school. I think he is doing exactly what you said by, "just taking the next step now". Maybe he sees it as taking the next step to better himself, before others can, which would virtually give him a head start. I do not agree nor disagree. JMOs.
