went to a HS game. noticed that the HC signals in the offensive play to the QB and receivers/ RB's. No huddle. All 11 players have wrist bands I assume with codes for various plays.

my question. it did not seem that the o-linemen looked for the signal and there was no huddle and the QB or anyone else didn't seem to relay any message to them. So how do the o-linemen get the play call so they will know the blocking assignment?

it's a spread offense in case that matters, and was very effective w/ a strong rushing attack w/ timely passes mixed in.........included lots of mis-direction plays.

    thanks.

Maybe the O-Line coach is relaying signals with the HC and that way the O-Line knows their blocking assignments

    Spread "O"

Almost always the qtr. back tell them, have you not watched any college games, the qtr. back makes the call, they just don't do it in the huddle....

    OL

I watched the o-linemen and the QB. The O-Linemen never were looking at a coach between plays and the QB never appeared to be communicating w/ the o-linemen.

    ???

The spread offense for a linemen is both easy and hard. You do not have an assignment on a particular defender, you just take a forty-five degree angle step and go. Whoever crosses your face is who you block. All they need to know is which side the play is going.
