I would agree with you. Nowhere did I hint that it was diploma mill. I know the people running the place. that is not who they are. If I felt it was I would not be considering the school for my son.[IMG]

That's great feedback. Believe it or not, I think most people are cheering for this to happen. It certainly appears they have the right people in place and are going forward in the right direction. I wish them nothing but the best.

I go their and it is a great school. It gives high schoolers like me a chance to go to the next level while having a christian attitude.

One of the things that I like about this school is the Christain focus. Having two boys that grew up in Christian schools was wonderful. However when you get to the High School age group in Greensboro there are not really any choices for a school with a Christian focus, top quality grades and sports, especially in football and baseball. It would be great to have a school that has top notch sports and grades with a Christian focus. That is the enviroment I prefer for my kids regardless of whether they play after HS or not. Charlotte and Raleigh have good schools that fit this discription. Maybe this is the answer around Greensboro. Let's hope so.

Great article today on the front page of the Greensboro News and Record sports page (sorry, I don't do links).

They really have good leadership at Veritas. What Gary Newell envisions is much more than a sports school. The focus is on moral and christian values. He hopes that these young men can be reformers in society and if not at the very least, good citizens. Not just an athlete. This school has the chance to be something much better. i still have questions but we should all hope this school achieves its vision. We will all be better for it.

The article also mentions some of the pitfalls we mentioned here. Some coaches are not lining up to play Veritas. But they'll get a game. It may be tough at 1st but that's a small hurdle. If this school can stay funded it could be something really good.

That I think will be the biggest challenge for them. With money getting tighter everyday. IMO.... Sponsors may back off the dollars if players end up not making the grade on the field.

Good question and does anyone know them. Position, home town, who they played for (HS, travel, showcase). Are they are even from NC?

    Hi,
Most of them are from this area or surrounding counties because none of them are boarding. The only boarding students are the basketball players. There is a catcher from Rockingham Highschool, several players from Northwest. Coach is a coach from Georgia. They had open tryouts in the early summer. To be considered, you have to apply to the school. They do their homework as far as checking out the kids.

The article in the Greensboro paper has Logan Self quoted. Formerly from NW Guilford primarily a pitcher/3rd. We have played against him for many years.
