Mooresville dominated from their first offensive play of the game as Jishaun Pinkston dashed 90 yds. to open the scoring for the Blue Devils. Mooresville added 3 more scores before the half as QB Nathan Abraham ran one in and threw for two more (to Pierce and Young). Mooresville lead 28-0 at the half. Abraham threw another strike in the thrid quarter (Sutton) and Mooresville pulled the starters after that.

Next Week: Mooresville @ Lake Norman

Pioneers held to less than 100 yards of offense, failing to capitalize on 5 Shelby turnovers.

Congrats to McDowell on the 14-7 win. Also congrats to everyone on the prediction thread, not a soul picked the Titans to win tonight...keep up the good work.

Dakota Arrowood had a great game (214 yds passing, 1 pass TD, 1 rush TD). Best game management by Arrowood since the opener against Enka. McDowell has the best QB in the Northwestern 4A.

Where does Freedom go from here? They got talent (dear god how I wished we had some athletes like they do) but they got problems putting it all together. My advise would be to immediately scrap that rediculous non-conference schedule. It's good to play good teams but for Freedom's sake it's killing them. Their confidence is completely gone by the start of the conference schedule.

For the final NW4A game between two great rivals, it was a great game...McDowell now qualifies for the State Playoffs for the first time since 2001 and snaps a six-game losing streak to the Patriots. I actually picked Freedom to win, but I'll gladly take an L on this one.

However Im quite disappointed in the Freedom crowd. Not a big crowd at all and many people were heading for the exits when Freedom had opportunities to tie the game (around 4-5 mins left in the game). Those young men in red deserved much more than that.
