    4th Annual Crusader Baseball CampShowcase

On November 22nd, 2008 the Belmont Abbey Baseball program invites you to attend our 4th Annual Belmont Abbey Prospect Showcase. During the past three recruiting seasons this prospect showcase has been instrumental in providing players for our program. We currently have over 20 players in our program that attended this prospect showcase. We will only open this to 2009 and 2010 graduates. Players from all over the eastern part of the country will be in attendance. We will also invite several other colleges from around our area to be in attendance. We expect a good turnout from other colleges as this showcase has grown over the past years.
We will charge 45 dollars for the showcase. As always we try to keep the cost down. We want this to be a recruiting tool for our program and not a money maker. Each athlete will be provided with a camp tee-shirt and lunch. Our sign in time will be at 8:30 AM on the 22nd. The check in area will be directly in front of the baseball field. Depending on the number in attendance the end time could vary. We will probably shoot for 2 PM for the prospect showcase to end.
The actual showcase will consist of a full evaluation, pro-style workout. 60 time, infield play, outfield range and arm-strength, Batting Practice on the field, and live bullpens. We will do a little more with the workout than most pro-styles do in order to see as much as we can of each player’s ability level.
Attached to this letter you will find the prospect showcase profile sheet and hotel information. If you plan on attending, please sign in and send payment as soon as possible. Showcase spots will be limited. Last years event showcased over 80 athletes. On return, please attach the profile sheet with a check made to “Crusader Baseball Camp”. Your payment will be non-refundable. You can email the profile sheet back to us. We are excited about this years showcase as we feel it will be our best to date. We look forward to seeing you here.

I mentioned this in another thread, but each year this particular Showcase/Camp has grown to a point that they may be faced with limiting the number. Last year, because they didn't want to tell anybody "sorry, we're full", they had nearly 90 players attending. I have a feeling they will receive much more applications (which will force them to make other decisions.)

What many people don't know is many schools contact them for the evaluations and last year one player got his 1st exposure to the pro guys (he ended up being drafted and signed.)

It was a fun day with great weather and a lot of TBR friends (I met the famous PlateDad that day.)

You will not find a more reasonable cost anywhere to have the opportunity to showcase your skills before college and pro scouts...and the Belmont Abbey staff does an excellent job in organizing this event.

I encourage all of you to sign up soon. There are very few events like this and none more reasonable. One of the things I like best is it gives me a chance to watch players I read on TBR from all over the state for the 1st time.

The belmont abbey showcase is a very good event for any high school player who wants to be seen. The coaches there have done a great job of getting this ready every year. There is always a good mix of coaches from different schools and I don't think any player there will say they weren't given the opportunity to show themselves off.

I truly have nothing to gain from this since I am considered a competitor in the business. I am only endorsing this event because I know there are so many things out there to chose from it can become confusing to decide which events are good to attend. This is one that you should be at.

    Excellent camp

This event will be outstanding and don't wait till next week to sign up so that you are sure to get in. Your kid will get great instruction and you will have a chance to meet some cool TBR folks. Sign up early.

You're right, Stretchy. Next Thursday will be the last day of signups, so I encourage all that are thinking about going to hurry. They must set a limit this year and I know that limit is rapidly approaching

Here it is....this Saturday. It will be the biggest and the best camp Belmont Abbey has ever had. The over all talent is outstanding and the number of replies have gone through the roof.

I'd like to encourage everybody to be on time...or early. The other thing I would like to remind all the players is to bring tennis shoes/turf shoes as the 60 times will be on their track field.

Also, bring LONG SLEEVES.....it will be a little chilly...but we will have sun, sun, sun:santa3:

only for the parents, Darkman, whose blood is already thin :tongue3:

    The players?...they'll be sweatin'

But I can promise you this. I'll be dressed like an eskimo where the only thing you'll be able to see are my eyes....looking for a heater that some parent will wisely bring:rotflmao:
