It's $2.799 around here now, but you're right, it's still about $0.15/gal more than it was last year.

But then again, bread is about $0.20/loaf than this time last year, and a McDonald's Cheeseburger Happy meal is about $0.30 more than last year, etc.

    Milk

Home run again, it has been a few years since I left the farm so things could have changed:

Typical cow may give two gallons of milk a day, to give that amount of milk, she must have a quality pasture (1 1/2 acres ), grain, pound or so a day, a bull, a farmer to care for her, a barn with milking machines used twice a day, maybe a goat or two to help keep disease away, medications, someone to keep the wart rats away, and some one to clean and haul off all her waste materials. Keep in mind this is one cow and you need millions requiring the same type set-up to produce this wonderful fluid, we call milk! A gallon of milk for family of four will last on average 3 days, if lucky.

Gas: once you hit the gas vein you can pull it out of ground with pumps using
the natural gas created by the process and if you have ever travelled the midwest, you see pumps all over the place with no one monitoring the process, just simply pipes and sometimes storage facilities. Sure there is much more to it that I have given, refineries, pipelines, trucks hauling, ships, expensive equipment but you certainly can mass produce gas and oil so cost per unit or gallon should be less than for the poor cow!

Sorry for boring U but GURU and CHEESE ticket will put it all in perspective.:drool5:

...no, CMbuddy. Guru is pointing out/bitching about gas prices because traveling to tournaments is expensive enough already. 8U - 18U, travelball costs are rising. As for this forum, "preps",
The HS teams have a budget too. If they're eating up their allotment of $ on gas going from game to game, then somethings gotta give down the line. It might be new uniforms, or field maintenance, or use of lights, or possibly the cancellation of a cool easter tournament trip for the kids.
    Fishman.
