I've personally done that more than once...and I wasn't the fastest man in the relay. If a pitcher is going to the windup and i am on 3rd...beep-beep (of course, the batter better know I'm coming)

Back in the day Braves was known as "The Roadrunner".....not really, the only way Braves beat the ball to the plate was if the pitcher threw it over the backstop........:hallo:

Actually, back in my day the "squeeze play" meant something else entirely

Well Braves you are on a level on your own that we strive to achieve everyday.

If the pitcher is in the windup with a man on base is ok if he checkes the runner before he starts his delivery. If he doesn't and the runner steals home then me and the pitcher would have a nice little talk no matter the outcome of the play at home.

Lefty- correct me if I'm wrong, but you and I are talking about stealing home, right (arriving at the plate before tagged out)? I saw that happen 3 times this year in a HS game...two by one player.

If we are not talking the same thing, then nevermind, I digress

Yea pretty much what it boils down too. If I was the coach my pitcher and the 3rd basebman would be out of the game after the second time in one game. If it happened the first tiem then me/pitcher/3rd baseman would have a nice talk on the mound right after it happened. No excuse for the runner to get that kind of lead and no one not make sure he was close to the bag or if anyone forgot to say anything. Always check your runner's, stretch or windup and the infielders and outfielders should always scream if the runner steals a bag to let everyone know. Failure to communicate leads to teams losing games.

if the pitcher will hold the runner by not going to a full windup, then theres no chance at a squeeze play if the P is a RH.
