The Tri-8 4A Conference is loaded this Spring.

Apex, Green Hope, and Athens should be loaded. Fuquay is always strong but not sure what they return. No idea about Lee County since the new school opened out there... Panther Creek will be more experienced and Cary should be stronger.

dif. opinion than Eastcoast on MECA-7

strong word "ridiculous" when talking about Robinson being near the top of the MECA-7. Robinson is very deep on pitching and has several position players that can field and hit with the best of 'em. Robinson got off to a slow start last year while the first year coach got to know his players. After spring break they won something like 8 of 11 with several of those wins against very good competition. I do agree that N. Meck has plenty of good players and should compete for the title but to say Robinson at or near the top or even ahead of N. Meck is "ridiculous" seems a little well; ridiculous.

I expect Lumberton to be very good this year. They came out of nowhere to make a deep playoff run last year. Arguably their two best pitchers are back plus most of their starters minus the SS. A bunch of kids with a bunch of experience and Coach Hodges knows how to coach winning baseball.

My son's coach will shoot me for saying this but I think Ragsdale is going to be pretty good.

We have pitching quality and pitching depth. The boys can hit and the defense should be better. We did not lose a player from last year. The younger boys will be more experienced.

Everywhere we have played this summer and fall we have been bumping into Ragsdale players. My son and I were just talking the other day about what a great team they should have!

    3A

    East

Rocky Mount - Defending Champs and loaded.

Eastern Wayne - The best team alot of people dont know about across the state. Very talented , very well coached.

Wilson Fike - Alot of very good baseball players. Some outstanding arms. And a great coaching staff.

DH Conley - Coach Mills will sand bag with the best of them but they are going to be very good once again. Last year they made it to the Eastern Finals with a bunch of young guys. They are all back. They will be good.

    West

Ragsdale - Yes everyone is back. But everyone was back last year as well. Will they finally break through? Yes they are very talented and should be the class of the west.

East Rowan - They lost some studs but they have some studs coming back. They are one of the best coached teams you will see at the hs level an they flat out compete. It would not surprise me one bit to see them play RM once again for the state title.

Belmont Southpoint - No one will want to see these guys in the playoffs. Outstanding team with some great pitching. This could be there year.

Team chemistry? Is bigger than people realize. Senioritis? It will kill some teams. Newcomers that come up huge? There will be some guys you dont know about that will come up large. One and done format. It will take its toll this year like it does every year. The most talented team may not be the best team. The best team could lose in a one game situation. The most talented best team that gets some breaks and has some luck will win it as usual.

All it takes is one very good pitcher have his A game that day and you make the plays you should make - score a couple of runs and you can beat anyone on any given day. This year will be no different.
