And what if that same child doesn't perform well on the playing field?

Thants the thing. Only those proven to perform well are selcted to receive the $37,000.00 scholarship to attend.

Good question. Sounds like a risk you take when you choose to attend. If I was attending, I would ask the question during the interview process. Then it becomes a family decision. Again, the beauty of Veritas is you have choices. You can choose to attend or stay at your current school. I would assume that if you do not perform, then you do not play. As for losing a scholarship, that would be a question to ask the school.

It's my understanding that the kids attending are all good athletes but a few are on academic probation already and a few actually entered on academic probation. If they do not adhere to the academic standards then they are dismissed from the school. I now hear the catcher, who was on academic probation already, is now hurt and can't play for months. Wonder what will happen to him.

Not sure about the catcher, but I guess we'll find out soon enough. As for academic probation, I would expect this to happen early on as kids transition from public school to private school for the first time. I have to believe that a school that stresses academics first like Veritas is being proactive rather that reacting when it is too late. I know they have mandatory study hall 3 days a week for those who want to take advantage of a tutor. The kids that are on academic probation are required to attend study hall those days. This is a college preparatory academy. The kids will benefit greatly from the environment.

The hitoms played against a team this weekend in High Point that actually had a couple of the veritas boys on it and they were pretty good. Don't know the names but played SS and 3rd and I think pitched.

They have a couple of kids from NCBA and the Angels. They have a pitcher on the 2011 Dirtbags. Sounds like they have a good nucleus.

Yes it should certainly be interesting to watch them grow. I for one am excited about the school and being in my area. My youngest son is in the 8th grade and hopefully can attend next year.

Yep, that's what it is. Each student selected is granted a $37,000.00 scholarship. Guess that is for the academics and all the trining they get and the travel too. They have a pretty intense schedule.
