Are you serious? Anyone can stay at the Holiday Inn Express...and after 3 nights you can do brain surgery (or so they advertise)

Oh..I couldn't agree with you more about the example setting. I'm really not trying to sling arrows, but who is the bigger example setter, a ML player or his HS coach or his Dad. Because all 3 may be dippin'.

    Agree with comments about Upton.
I also saw David Ortiz jogging to first with his bat in hand in the LCS on a groundout.
What's with these guys who can't even hustle in the postseason ?
On the other side, another guy who is max effort, all the time is Youkilis.

    Foul balls

should get picked up by someone else. Pitched balls should be caught or blocked. And if the pitch should have been caught or blocked and wasn't the first guy to the baseball should be the guy that let it get by. Nothing irks me more than to see a catcher let a ball get by him and then just reach around to the umpire for another baseball. Its says alot more about the catcher than you think. If the ball is thrown over their head or fouled off then fine let the on deck guy go get it. But it sickens me to see a catcher have a passed ball or not block a pitch and just sit there waiting for someone else to pick up the ball he should already have. Where is the pride?

We could let the ump get the balls at the screen, but they probably would not be in the position to see the ball

    a long time ago

It has been a long time since I played, but our catchers hustled to the backstop. Maybe I am just old school or just old.

When I was at Louisburg our catchers had to go get the ball if they missed if or it got through their legs, even without runners on base. If a catcher misses it or hits off his glove he should go get the ball because he had a mental lapse and should be responsible for getting the ball. Practice would be bad for them if they didn't get a ball they missed or a foul ball they didn't get. The only time it was ok if it went straight to the on deck hitter or was within 3 feet of the on deck hitter. Other than that they had to go get it.

Can we imagine our catchers going and getting a ball that hit off their gloveor went through their legs, oh the parents would hate the coach for making his players responsible for their mistakes.
