    75gitane, Langston Wertz used to read this board (at least the softball forum). Wonder where he is on this? Maybe if we keep talking the Observer will catch on.

    cheeze, can you get his attention. It will not be hard for him to see the popularity of the volleyball forum.

    Newspaper coverage

    I didn't get much response to my earlier post on this, so I'll try again..why does tennis (for example) get names and scores and multiple columns of results and volleyball only gets school names and scores, and on rare occasion overall records? Could we not at least list team leaders in kills, assists, blocks, digs, whatever seems appropriate? I think the kids would get a kick out of seeing their names in the paper, much like their softball, soccer, basketball, cross-country, tennis, etc. counterparts. And it would help the average fan keep up with the key players on each team. Just a thought...

    Call the paper and complain!!

    I will say here in my area the local paper does a good job of covering the Person Rockets. And in Durham the Durham Hearld does a pretty good job of covering the Pac-Six in volleyball. They put stats in if the coaches or who ever calls in the info will provide. The Hearld had a picture of some of the Cedar Ridge gilrs on the front page of there sports section today!! Pretty good if you ask me!!
    Call you local paper and complain...it is a growing sport in NC.
    Also I forgot to mention that here in Roxboro/Person County our local radio station carries our home volleyabll games and some big away games!! As far as we know thay are the only radio station in the state to do this??

    have talked to braves, the person at CO preps who would cover this is Cliff Mehrtens. But i have to agree with braves on his view, coverage is primarily based on how coaches call in, and if they dont call in scores, it aint published..you can start a grass roots campaign by emailing Cliff at the CO.....might lead to something in the future...

    Butler at Myers Park volleyball, today, 5 p.m.: It's the N.C. 4A quarterfinals and Butler has never been this far. The Bulldogs hired a new coach, John Brannon, and has relied on star players Mariah Dellissimo, Laura Ecenhour and Ashley Aspenwall, whose father Tom, got a successful heart transplant. Myers Park, which reached the N.C. 4A championship last year, is looking to reach a second straight regional final Tuesday against either North Mecklenburg or Winston-Salem Mount Tabor, who meet in the other western quarterfinal today at 6.
