Is there any Is there any Softball Player Only Talent ID Showcase? IF not would anyone be interested in having a Fall ID Showcase?

This would give college coach's a great chance to ID Talent and possibly find that diamond in the rough and let the girls know where they stack up against everyone else not just players on their team.

Once the girls arrive: sign in get a colored shirt (different color for Freshmen, So, Jr & Sr) with a # that id's them for all coach's that are in attendance.

    1) Time all girls running (get 2 attempts)

    2) Outfielders throw from deep RF to 3rd and Home (3 throws to each)

    3) Infielders Field and throw from SS (2 to Left, 2 to Right, Slow Roller)

    4) All get 10 cuts on field (see Swing, Power)

***All Players That Are Not Pitchers or Catchers Excused***

    5) Catchers Pop time ( 5 Throws)

    6) Pitchers Bullpen (Radar Gun, movement of pitches)

    ****Follow up*****

List Top Performers: Speed, Arm Strength, Power and so on...

    Sneak A Peek

We have tried to do much of what you are asking for in our Sneak A Peek showcases each spring but have had mixed success. Not many players from top travel teams will come even though we attend almost all the local teams events. Some say there is not enough coaches and coaches say they need more talent but the last one we had at Belmont Abbey seem to please both sides.
Coaches have said they see more in 2 1/2 hours than they get to see in an entire weekend of tournament play as we focus on drills, etc. that allow the coaches to evaluate the softball and athletic skills in an informal environment. We hold the numbers to 50 players so coaches can see them perform in detail.
Did not mean to take your thread, just pointing out at least some of the areas you mention are covered.

Very Good Players That Don't Play Travel

There are also some very good players that don't play travel ball. Unfortunately not all good players can afford the $200 to $400 per weekend plus team fees that is takes to play.

They could afford a Spring and Fall Id camp for $50 or $75 with the chance to be seen and followed if potential talent is ID'd by College Coach's.

    Cost

We charge $100 and have had several non travel players attend. Includes T-shirt, profile in profile book given to coaches, profile e-mailed to 75 or more coaches not in attendance, and times, speed, etc. given to coaches as well.
We average 12 college coaches but as stated we get the information to many more. Several players were added to coaches list that had never seen the kids before.

    Times

We have one in spring, actually May. We have held them at UNCC, Belmont Abbey, Forest Hills HS, and this year will be Wingate University.
If there was enough interest, we would have in January so coaches could attend.:REDanceBanana001:

    Showcase for Players Only

Showcase for players only.... What a great idea is anyone having one this fall?

Players and coaches could see how they stack up against other players not on their team but in the same graduating class.

College coaches could see more of what they a looking for in players in 1 day!
Not to mention a great fund raiser...

The weekend after Myrtle Beach would be perfect timing!

    Southern Star is your answer

    Pac6

Just read your post. An event that you speak of is almost what we do with the Southern Star "All-Star" showcase. Individual players sign up and we assign them to teams. We dress teams alike and give players the opportunity to play 4 games in front of college coaches. It has been very well received by the coaches who attended and the players like it too. In the Southeast we hold 1 in January at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA and one in the Atlanta area in August.

For more information, go to www.southernstarsoftball.com

As was mentioned above the recruiting period for NCAA D1 schools ended on November 2. They cannot go out again and observe players on travel teams again until after Jan. 1. That is why you will not see any D1 coaches in Myrtle Beach or any showcase event in November or December. Most tournament directors fail to mention this. But, D1 only makes up 25% of the total colleges that could attend, so 75% of the schools could still go.

    Hope that helps,
    Ty
