Grimsley HS selects a coach

Grimsley AD Lewis Newman has announced that Jason Simmons has been selected as the new baseball coach at Grimsley HS in Greensboro. From time to time we hear from Coach Simmons on this site. Coach Simmons background includes coaching as an asst. at Elon, head coach at Williams, asst. coach at many high schools, most recently Southern Guilford. He has coached with AP at Impact at the showcase level, has coached Legion many times, including this past summer, played at Ragsdale, and I think he played in college. He is also a teacher in the school system. I know Jason. he is a great coach and much better he is a great mentor to young men. These boys are lucky to have him. I hope everyone will congratulate and welcome Coach Simmons to the position.

 

Outstanding!!!! Although I do not know Coach Simmons, thank you Putt for giving us his backkground. I don't know that you can have a much more rounded background in coaching.

 

What happened to the coach before him as well as the coaches at Myers Park and Indy filll me in there Braves????

 

myers park ex coach Bobby Simmons took a administrator job at the school so he couldnt have enough time to coach the team, but John Spencer an ex wingate star and proffesional ball player will coach the team

 

Braves - Jason Simmons was the legion coach for Greensboro Post 53 for a couple years when they played their games at Ragsdale - you came up there with TJ one night when we were playing one of the Rowan County teams in the playoffs.

Coach Simmons did a great job with those legion teams. Grimsley had a great one in Coach Ash who they shouldn't have let go but they made a good choice replacing him.
