Mikal Hill, Mallard Creek star, has verbally committed to USC. Mikal '11 player for SCP and the Dirtbags joins his brother Alex as a D1 player....outstanding!

Congratulations to Mikal, the Hill family, Coach Tanner and Holbrook in selecting a fine university, Braves alma mater.......go make this fellow Gamecock proud!

    Congrats to Mikal

You will not meet a finer young man. He is very talented and is only going to get better. This young man still has two years of hs baseball yet to play. His tools are obvious when you watch him. Congrats Mikal and good luck this coming hs season.

I think that is a great accomplishment for a young player. I don't know Mikal personally, but have watched him play once. What are the advantages of committing to a university at such a young age? What if down the road another college shows interest that he would like to consider? I just want to get opinions of people who know more about the recruiting process than I do.

I know Mikal received an unbelievable offer, plus it's a school that he wants to attend. I'm not a fan of early commitments, but this is a unique situation.

He's happy, his family is happy, USC has a history of fulfilling their commitments...it's a win/win and the family can remove themselves from the recruiting process (a good thing.) All Mikal has to concentrate now is on getting better.
