That's a great point G-man. However, private schools have many more options for scholarship $$$....and the amount of scholarships are larger.

We have actually paid less going to a private school then we would have going to a public one

    Ok...how about this...

Based upon what you are saying above -- obviously, a kid that has the potential to play at a top D-1 school would want to - but there's always the chance that he doesn't play - at least not right away, and possibly not until much later. So...perhaps he can go to a mid or lower level D-1 school and get to play right off the bat - of course, as you stated, there's a less likely chance of them advancing to a championship or whatever. My question is this...Does a kid that is playing at one of these lower level D-1 schools have as much exposure or chance (if say he's got the ability to play beyond college - even if it's just the minors) as he would if he played in one of the Top D-1 schools? Do those kids get drafted? Is this something to even consider during the recruiting process?

There were 17 players drafted from the D2 schools in NC last year. If your dream goes beyond college and you have the talent, you will not be missed by scouts at any level.

Bonsway--- here is the thing to keep in mind. If you're sittin' and not playin' your dreams will be with you on the bench. The levels of talent are narrowing at all the divisions. The key in a baseball sense is go where the coaches want you and you have a reasonable chance to play.

The other thing to keep in mind are the restrictions placed on D1 players. They no longer have the opportunity to transfer without penalty....unless they go from D1 to D2. That decision has certainly helped and will continue to grow the talent in D2 baseball. It's already making an impact

From what I understand though too, there are really no guarantees re: playing time. DId I read on this thread that there is a lot of over-recruiting? I thought there was less of that now that there are new rules regarding how many can be on a roster.

I would agree with rivals order except i would put Wilmington ahead of Elon and tied with ECU, of course there is a little bias in there. I truly think what is going to happened is the so called Mid-Major schools are going to explode in the next couple of years. With the talent out there especially in this state, those kids will no longer go to the big schools and wait two or three years to play. They will go to the Elons,Wilmington, High Points, ect where they can play immediatley and elevate those schools. Instead of going to Carolina,State, ECU and not playing, they will go to these mid-major schools and play against the big boys and beat them. Granted the big schools will still get theirs , just not everyone they used to get.

check out the Georgia website and see how many players they are bringing in. Those are two different questions: How many on a roster and over-recruiting?

If you have 5 positions to fill and you bring in 15....it's not difficult to figure out that college baseball and any other college sport are business-like. How a school can do that is not difficult. What is difficult will be all the players that get cut before the 2nd semester starts.

I'll PM you with a specific question to this Bonsway, but bringing in 15 talented players in-state with only Hope scholarships as the bonus, illiustrates one way to bring in talented players with no athletic scholarships involved.

I agree. I remember Coach Fox saying what put UNC on the recruiting map was playing on TV. The more mid level schools consistently advance to the playoffs and play on TV, it will evolve just like college football. Players will go to schools where they believe they can start..immediately. So instead of Miami, Fla and Fla State getting all the players in football, many are now going to UCF, South Florida and ALL of the ACC schools. Television changes all the dynamics...and college baseball is at the beginning of its ascension

This may have been it: "Stay away from Diesel and Stretchy...they can be hazardous to your health"...was that it?

Seriously, I think it was about the Boot Camp
