    RICHIE RATS will never die! My old Terrapin friend who mad sure this rat was playing behind him everytime he toe'd the rubber is reffering to our residence at the U of Md. The baseball program at Maryland has never been fully funded so we found ways back then to get players on campus. One way was to stick six baseball players in Richie Coliseum, which was the old gymnasium and possibly the oldest building on campus. Since we were low sport on the totem pole, behind girls synchronized swimming, we got to put beds in this old lockeroom in the basement of Richie Coliseum.

    It gets better...since we were extremely resourceful guys we found, and I emphasize "found", on campus enough building supplies to construct a six room condo! Literally had two levels. Needless to say once we completed our project and sold all of our books (half way through the semester) we threw the wildest party that part of campus had seen in years! At which point we realized that we lived in a basement of gynasium and were the lowest form of Maryland Athletics that we must be RATS! So we became affectionately known around campus as the RICHIE RATS! and believe me when the word spread across campus spread that the Richie Rats were throwing a party it was going to be a night to remember...or not!!! and did I mention that chicks dug Richie Rats!

    So my terrapin teammate speaks the truth when he says "once a rat alwasys a rat" Long Live the Richie Rats

    Always had the nicest Christmas Tree in town...courtesy of the Presidents front yard !

    Oh and how beautiful that Christmas tree was...decorated with the finest aluminum cans and copenhagan tins! Our speed and agility training back then came from running across campus with with large objects in our hands! Our team building came from running across campus with objects to large for one person to carry! I do believe that might have been a female every know and then!!! SLUMP BUSTERS!!!

    NEW THREAD: Everyone tell about the slump busters! what they did to get out of one! and if anyone says extra BP then I know they were never really in a slump!

    Definition of Slump: when it has gone so wrong that you have to turn it over to the unwritten rules of the game! "Put down the bat and get some fat" :mixed-smiley-045:
