South Caldwell beat West Caldwell tonight. Everyone here knows I never remember the final scores. lol. SC was up by as much as 28 points I think they ended up winning by around 16 or 17 points. Girls look pretty good this year. Still a very young team playing mostly freshman and sophmores. Couple juniors and only 3 senoirs on the team with only one of them starting. We are still gaurd loaded. The sophmore post player is pretty good just not quite big enough to dominate yet. If we had one good big post player we would be super good. To me rebounding is our only weak spot. Gonna be a fun team to watch

EB could have stole this one away, down by 15 in the third they came back to lead by 2 with 2 min. to go.

    TC Roberson 58

A game of wild swings, Roberson held a lead (5-9 points) for pretty much a majority of the 1st half and most of the 3rd quarter. They got up as high as 11 at one point. Then Freedom makes a run starting late in the 3rd quarter. Ali got her points in spurts tonight and the spurt during the 4th quarter made the difference. She also played with some foul trouble at times. My guess would be that she had 25?, maybe more... (dribbles, I'm sure you got the info on that). The Lady Patriots got a lead as high as 11 with about 3 minutes left when Roberson made a last run. It was a one-possession game in the final 90 seconds so things got a bit tense but Freedom held them off.

North must have had 30+ turnovers and the majority of those were unforced.

North Buncombe did have a lot of turnovers, we had our fair share as well. I thought early in the game we did a pretty good job moving the ball around to beat the full court pressure. Autumn Ward finished with 22 points, Xandi Gellman added 12. We probably had 3 or 4 other players with 6-8 points apiece, that's a pretty good point distribution. BTW, due to weather and football issues, that was actually North Buncombe's first game of the season.

McDowell travels to TC Roberson Tuesday. By what I saw down in Morganton the other night, we are in for a challenge.

    Since Dan asked,
"Freedom had 2 of the toughest opening games they could have chosen in Forestview and Roberson and could easily be 0-2 right now, whats different than years past? I see it as both teams sold out in stopping Ford and did well in first half(7 pts each game)but for that the price was the other players got very involved and kept the games close enough, during second half(s) ford has put up 40 total (2nd half pts)and separation has occured."
Im not sure you will see FHS put away the good teams this year til the 4q due to obviously getting everyone involved and pushing the pace for 48 min.
Dan has seen a FHS game and McDowell play..maybe he can share his feeling on that matchup.
My Take: Offensively I can't see where McDowell can replace the 50-70pts per game they graduated, but defensively they are going to be very good.
Happy Thanksgiving to all TBR viewers.

First off, hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving weekend...

Yes, I've seen both play at least once this season but I still will go back to what I said in the conference predictions thread. McDowell will have to value each possession against the better teams this year. Gotta be strong on the boards and at the line. We travel to Roberson Tuesday night, given that is a common opponent between McDowell and Freedom, maybe then I can give a better early call.
