    My Assumption !!

Coming out of hibernation for a moment....It is a pure fact that the typical athlete in college has no time for monkeying around with other things as partying or etc..because of her schedule. It appears that the average college freshman in the 21st century that does not play a sport is either partying the first year or doing things that mom or dad would not approve of because of the key word "FREEDOM". I think it has to be in the individuals heart that makes up her mind that she wants an education, and gives it a 100% in 4 years, or obtain a 6 year degree because of lack of focus!!! You gotta want it to obtain it !!!:five:

    uhh... don't be surprised

if you find out that your son or daughter does find some time to have a little fun! They learn all about "time management" and it's not all work and no play, and that is not necessarily a bad thing... it's part of growing up. I've called my son on Saturday nights and found him working on a paper or going to bed early due to a game the next day... on another Saturday night I interrupted him "surfing" on someones coffee table at a party!

right on the money.... a few years ago I asked several Ivy League players how they managed to play a D1 sport and manage their academic loads at a school like Princeton... they all said they had no time to do anything other than study and compete... and that their grades were universally higher than their non varsity friends who had more time to "waste". An interesting side not to all this is Ivies mandate no off season "practices" so in FP girls only have a loose work out schedule in the fall. If you go on scholly to a D1 or D2 you have even less time to get in trouble.

While I agree that the social aspect of college is an important part of moving from adolescence to young adulthood (I know it was for me) it represents yet another possible stumbling block and minimizing such potholes is a good thing for the "alignment" of all concerned.

....I agree that the social part of of college is very important. Also, time management is a biggie! Learning to juggle all the school work, assignments, team workouts, individual workouts, going out on the town, having boyfriends, etc. is part of growing into the real world where mom and dad aren't there to wipe their nose everytime she has a cold.
