wednesday scores......

acr- the men beat enka 55-46; the women won 65-58.

whs- the men beat avery 81-59; the women won 64-56

east burke- the men beat east rutherford 72-60; the women lost 53-39.

alexander central- both the men and women lost to hickory, but i don't have the scores. can someone please pass those along. thank you in advance, and i hope this helps.

She had starters (as many as 3) in with 3 minutes to go. Still running, still picking up 3/4 court. Maybe this stuff will come back.

 

no, it never will b/c these types of coaches "cut and run" when they know things will be bad.....karma is a bitch, just not as big a bitch as the HHS coach.

 

Barbara Helms runs a great program. How many coaches tell their players to stop scoring? Some of her starters are sophomores. I thought this board had rules about name calling. When football coaches run up scores are they called a b*&%#? Of course not.

 

Since Ive been here I have been an avid opponent of any team running up the score....doesnt matter what sport......I'll call her whatever name i feel like b/c in my opinion that is what she is being by keeping the starters in with 3 min left and and pressing....its total BS.

Look, if a team can't keep you from scoring, fine.....but as if said 10000 times...with no shot clock in HS bball, it is easy for the team that is ahead to keep the game from becoming embarassing....4 passes, 1 shot, rinse/repeat....hell even in a close game that may be a good strategy to slow down a team on a run.....these are KIDS they are competing, they do not need to be embarassed and the expense of some asshole coach who feels the need to make sure certian players get their points....

Will it be OK if AC beats HHS by 30 runs in softball? That will be 2 conference games per year starting spring 2010 (I think).

NOT THAT I HAVE A SAY IN THIS TOPIC...BUT YOU CAN BET COACH SHERRILL WOULD RUN THE SCORE UP ON HICKORY...OF COURSE THATS WHY HE HOLDS THE HIGHEST WINNING PERCENTAGE(HIGH SCHOOL) IN THE NATION. IT ALL STARTS WITH TRAVELING BALL , BE IT BASKETBALL OR SOFTBALL - LETS FACE IT, HICKORY HIGH HAS "THE EXPRESS" AN AAU BASKETBALL TRAVELING ORGANIZATION THAT FILTERS INTO THERE PROGRAM. NOW ON THE AC SIDE ,YOU HAVE SEVERAL TEAMS AND ORGANIZATION (I COULD PROBABLY NAME ATLEAST 8) THAT ALL FILTERS INTO ACHS.....MONTY WOULDN'T HOLD BACK! DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT WOULD BE TO CALL MONTY A "BITCH" AND GET AWAY WITH IT - ESPECIALLY UP THAT WAY IN "SOFTBALL COUNTRY". Marsha Crump, who once coached Freedom, in my opinion, was a great example. When she played our school 2x a year each year, she would keep a respectable lead between 20-30 points. She could have beaten us by 60 if she had wanted. I was always amazed at how she would keep conference and regular non-conference games respectable since we always had to play each other. However, in the state tournament, she beat the day lights out of non-conference teams. She sent a message to those teams that Freedom was serious about the state tournament. Great respect for a great coach with class.
