I just left the field. It is immaculate. All of the coaches have been working hard all week to get it in perfect condition. Coach Hignight has even installed a portable OF fence to move it up or back depending on who's hitting.

Rumor has it (it was started by the Dalai himself) that he could hit when he was in school. Looking forward to seeing him (if he still can) take a few swings at the fence. Depending on how he does, maybe we can move the fence to Little League distance? 200 feet!!!!!!:ass:

I invited Coach Clewis from Myers Park, so neither Dalai or Robert Woodard can stretch those HR stories

    What a day

What a day it was today. The boys all worked hard, learned a little and had a ball.

There was an odd thought that came to my mind today(imagine that). It came after listening to Schaef speak to the boys. He talked about how as you are breaking in, there is someone looking over their shoulder to see if you are after their job. Think about what you saw today with all the minor league and college players offerring instruction to these high schoolers. They in effect were helping the guys that may be after their roster spot one day. How many other jobs can you say that about. Imagine your own job. Young up and comer joins your firm are you going to help him knowing that he may soon be after your job? These young men are true stewards of the game and should be congratulated for their effort and stewardship.

I would love to give a breakdown on the talent there, but if I knew enough to do that, I would have been on the field. I can however comment on the food. The bbq was out of this world. Had several helpings. I judged the desserts, at least that is what I told the folks at the table when I kept returning:FIAcademyAwardHL:, and after several taste tests lasting all afternoon, I must call it a draw. They were all unbelievable.

We all witnessed and outstanding event, spearheaded by some outstanding individuals, and taught by some oustanding individuals. Braves:party: and Freddy:party: did a wonderfuls job and surrounded themselves with some of the best baseball men and personalities in the greater Charlotte area. I hope this becomes an annual event.

I had a blast yesterday. It is always good to get to spend a day hanging out with all those guys again. I hope everyone was able to take a little something out of the day with them. There were some really talented players there.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!
