I think it's awesome to have school spirit, but let's be realistic. Watauga plays a somewhat cupcake schedule during the non-conference season and gets decimated year after year in league play. While four teams are given automatic bids, and one might get in through wild cards, making the playoffs is a much better goal to shoot for instead of winning the state championship.

Besides, from all that I've read on here and in the papers (Ive been more involved with wrestling this year than basketball), Freedom & McDowell are the heads of the class this year (like every year it seems) and pulling off wins against these traditional powers is very unlikely. Even if they qualified for the state playoffs, I still dont see anyone (including Freedom & McDowell) beating West Charlotte.

"Keep shooting for the sun. Even if you miss, you'll still land among the stars."

It seems like I am the only one on this thread that actually sees the true potential in these fine young women. What do you think whspioneers? You are always talking about how great of a team we usually have, come on show some school spirit and help me get behind these ladies. They have really been through a lot these last few years dealing with a variety of new coaches. I feel like they have found a winner in Klay and his staff and if it was not for a couple mishaps this year we could be undefeated and on our way to STATES..thank you and god bless. Merry Christmas to all!

    GO WATAUGA!!!!

I am curious as to the reasons you think Watauga will win a state championship. Could you please name them?

C'mon guy this is probABLY A KID posting and I myself think if Watauga gets 6 transfers (2 each from Butler, WC, and Freedom -THEY CAN DO IT!!
Of course NONE of the current team members would be playing any.
Watauga won't make playoffs this year unless as Wild Card.

Good Luck Watauga but its time to do like Warden said and SOBER up.

First things first. Try to win the conference first. Make the playoffs. Then go for the state. In this conference just being conference champion is tough. Over the last 5 years and maybe 6 the only ones to wine the conference were Mcdowell who has the most, South Caldwell and Reynolds. Don't know how long since Freedom or East Burke won it. I doubt alexander has ever and not sure about Watagua. Freedom has a great chance to break through this year though

Either that or a very enthusiastic grandparent.

Don't you know! Klay Anderson! He is the saviour of our program. Not to mention his A+ coaching staff. He has turned this program around in one year and 3 months. Awesome job! LMAO!!!

What little success Watauga has had this season is a direct reflection of having a little talent this year. Nothing to do with the coaches. Heck, Coach Dixon would even be winning with this group. I think I would like him back. At least he took an interest in the younger kids and looked to help them develop.

What has Klay or his staff done to help the MS teams out or the travel teams out??? Aren't they part of your program, coach??

I will give the coaches one thing, they are probably the best dressed coaches in the league! At least they do that well!

Watauga ladies are looking good! I believe it is a combination of talent and coaching.. Coach Anderson and his staff have developed a team approach among the players....Post players are strong this year and better team play on the court... not a deep bench, might have won more by not playing everyone on the bench..it is hard to be up by 15...then be down by 4 , to win....the girls have heart and there is 6 on the team that can play BB.

Two things showed in this game. 1st this was McDowells 3rd game in as many nights and the girls seemed tired. 2nd- Roberson had more athletic talent on the floor than the lady Titans did period. The Lady Titans are going through a rare complete rebuilding year and it will show throughout the year as we play good teams. But I believe Coach Franklin and the Girls may surprise a few teams as the year wears on just like the lady Titan softball team did in the playoffs this year. LOL
