    Another point to ponder

When teams go to a tournament, they normally no their pool game times by Thursday night. Without time limits your teams would be at the park waiting and also not knowing what time to return to the ball park between games.

I think 1:10 and 1:15 time limits are ridiculous. With that being said, time limits are definitely necessary. 1:30 finish the innning is reasonable and if the tournament director feels the need to have "drop dead" games then 1:45 should be used.

In my opinion, time limits less than 1:30 is purely driven by money/greed!!!

The only way to stop the ridiculous time limits is for teams to voice their disapproval to the tournament directors.

KC, you get plenty of game time. I watched you play 10 innings in a 7 inning game. LOL!!

    Agree

I hate time limits as well but understand there place from a scheduling standpoint. I agree with 1:30 time limit at least. I've seen and been in too many situations where in a good low scoring game between two good teams, the game is cut short by the time limit. And, in many cases these teams would have been able to play out the 7 innings with a 1:30 time limit.

    Frustrating

Too many times I've seen a player's time at bat cut short by drop dead time limits. This is an absolute indignity to the player.

After all the hours of practice (many of which are totally boring but necessary repetitions) a player is not allowed an additional 1 or 2 minutes to finish their at bat. What a slap in the face !!!

The game is short enough at 7 innings! We need to find a way to get as close to that as possible. But drop dead games need to drop dead!!

    Time limits - my opinion

I coach an 18U team. At the 18U level, time limits are necessary to keep games on schedule for the teams as well as college coaches. Players need to be able to tell college coaches what time they play and on which field they will be playing. College Coaches need to be able to plan which fields and players they want to watch. I think time limits should be a minimum of 80-90 minutes with no drop dead.
I do not agree with the 'drop dead' concept. Once that batter steps in that box, they should be able to finish their at bat. There should be no reason for a batter to be left standing in that batter's box.
I am more in favor of finishing the inning, but that is asking for a miracle.

    Agree And Diagree !!

I think in a typical tournament situation, yes play the entire game, but not in showcase ball it aint about winning it's about being seen and signing !! If you play showcase to win,it better be to win the coaches favor for your kid, because if you are in it for prestige or recognition then you are it for the wrong reason !!-- The only trophy you should be looking for is a college education !!

I agree totally with the showcases having time limits or whatever else they want to do to show the players to the college coaches. I keep expecting to see a showcase where they choreograph the entire games. Hey, it works in rasslin'!

And it seems everyone nowadays wants their tournament to be a showcase tournament. Won't be too long before there won't be enough college coaches to cover all the "showcase" tournaments.

But the drop dead games really tell a batter how unimportant she is when she doesn't get to finish her at bat. And unfinished innings tell the whole team the same thing.
