With all due respect to you Dribbles, I dont think you know alot about the two teams to make that statement. Freedom is far and away the most talented team in the league, I have seen McDowell play and they will be fourth or fifth in the conference this year and wont finish above .500. Freedom has not won the conference since I started watching and I read where they have not beat McDowell in like six years. So, it would be really ugly if Freedom did not pull this one out. With that being said, Freedom will win this game big.

Amen...You know, if you look at it from a scheduling standpoint, for Freedom, McDowell, & East Burke - scheduling non-conference games will be a breeze. Instead of trying to find people to play against, these three teams will know who to schedule, and this could be in ALL sports, not just basketball.

For years Ive always hated the fact McDowell scheduled Burns, R-S Central, Owen, & Mitchell for non-conference play due to the fact that they're not on our level and didn't offer as much competition as the East Rutherford's and T.C. Roberson's have. Ive often wondererd if we played some tougher competition in non-conference play, in playing the Hickory's, the Fred T. Foard's, the Asheville's, etc.. what shape could we have been in going into the postseason?

If we could have been more battle tested with scheduling better teams, I think it could have allowed us to to make far deeper runs in the state playoffs and potentially prepared us for the state finals. But that's just me.

No dribbles tonight will not answer any BIG questions. For the first time in a long time McDowell is a very young team without any outstanding athletes this year. Our girls have a lot of heart, they work hard and are very well coached but these things will only take you so far against a good experienced team like Freedom and Roberson. Freedom should have a cake walk through the NW4A conference this year. Time will tell. Good luck.

Do you know how many of the freedom basketball players were also on the softball team Jon? Freedom has some good all sport athletes on their team. And I believe both teams are coached by the same coaches. They should beat McDowell by 15+.

Yes, Im familiar with those on the team. I was their PA announcer for a season. But that quote you used isn't a quote I'd put on here, after all, some of them & their coaches read this stuff.

    It's aka Bulletin Board Material.

See, Tony and you McDowell posters have been pretty absent on the boards since their team is supposed to be a little down and I think he's just trying to get me going. I don't actually think my softball self-destructed EVER!

We beat McDowell twice (16-1 and 1-0) made it to the second round and lost to a very strong NW Guilford team. Don't really think we slef destructed.

Anyway, back to basketball- Congrats to Freedom and their wonderful players, fans, and coaching staff on a very good win. You guys thought you should have beaten us by more last year and we felt the same, but it's always tight when these two play no matter what.
