    Also,

Congrats to Ali Ford for passing McDowell's Jennis Grindstaff and becoming the all-time leading scorer (men or women) all time in the NW 4A!!!

Thad, the reason I have been absent from the boards is because of my work schedule. It seems I've had to work every night McDowell has had a game this year with the exception of the Roberson game at McDowell.{I don't like to comment on a game if I don't see it} But I'll get to more games in the new year and I'll be here for the lady Titans win or lose.

The girls are playing good team ball! Losing by 6 points to a good team is not exactly a blowout!

I thought before the season started that we may be able to beat Freedom but to be honest I don't think we have the post players and rebounding to do it. 1 or 2 players didn't end up as strong this year as I had thought and it is gonna hurt us a little down low. Our best post player is a soph and is very good but still needs to bulk up a little to play in this league. Don't think Freedom will have a cake walk but could go undefeated but I still think SC, ACR or Mcdowell could beat them once and while it would be an upset it wouldn't be that big of one.

I believe the last time Freedom may have won against Mcdowell was in the 2006 Freedom Christmas Tournament with Kurie and Co. (82-78)

No disrespect here but I was just curious has Freedom ever won the conference against the group of teams that are currently in the nw4a. I could only find results for the last 5 years. Maybe when they had Gardin? I think this year could be Fox's first title if they win it.

Yeah, the last time Freedom has ever won a NW4A season or tourney title was Kerri Gardin's senior year...that squad went on to win the 4A State Championship.

I thought last night's game was classic Freedom-McDowell rivalry. The intensity of both teams was amazing. A big factor in the game IMO was turnovers. I said at the start of the season that for McDowell to win against the teams that are equal or better than them, we have to value each and every possession. Committing 24 turnovers (15 of them in the 1st half) isn't getting much value. When we did take care of the ball, a majority of the time it resulted in points. The Lady Titans went straight to Freedom's weakness, and that's the interior. Gellman had a huge night for the Lady Titans (24 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks.) Molly Brooks, Kaitlin Gallion and sophomore Madison Thomas was also productive in the paint.

Meanwhile Freedom did an excellent job taking care of the rock...they had only 4 turnovers the entire night. Their first turnover didn't occur until early second half when Ali double-dribbled. You cannot ask for a better performance from the Lady Patriots on that aspect.

All in all I thought it was a good game. Congrats to Freedom on the victory, congrats to Ali on the scoring record. And for the Lady Titans, there is absolutely nothing to feel bad about in last night's game. Obviously we have some people on this message board who think that we are not that good a team...just keep working hard to prove them wrong.

I'm not one of those who thinks Mcdowell won't be good. They scare me as they will be a team we won't matchup well with. No secret our weakness is in the paint and rebounding and that seems to be Mcdowells strength. It hurt us in the end last night during the 4th quarter. We had a lead but when the shots stopped falling we could get no offensive boards and no second chances and lost. We are loaded with some very good young gaurds. We had a freshman and sophmore gaurds make the all tournament team. And do have a good sophmore post player but she still needs some muscle
