Finalists Announced for Charlotte Hot Stove League Dinner Awards!!

    Here are the finalists for all the awards. The Dinner is in 20 days and we still have some tickets remaining. Last year the event sold out a couple of days before the event, so don't wait to long to come help us honor these amazing athletes and share time with great friends over an incredible dinner.

    (side note, in order to win, you had to be nominated)



    FINALISTS NAMED FOR 2ND ANNUAL GREATER CHARLOTTE HOT STOVE LEAGUE DINNER AWARDS

    The finalists for the seven awards to be presented at the Greater Charlotte Hot Stove League Award Dinner on January 24th were announced. Each finalist will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments on and off the field. Last year’s winners included a who’s who list of area baseball and softball players, including; Constance Orr, Richie Shaffer, Erin Kayton and Chase Arnold. This season three new awards have been added to the evening.

    Hot Stove League President Tripp Roakes is very proud of all the nominees and looks forward to honoring the finalists on the 24th of January.

    “The highlight of this special evening for me is the awards presentations. We had well over 125 student-athletes and teams nominated this year and narrowing down the finalists for each category was very tough for the committee.”

    The finalists for the Kelly Sports Greater Charlotte High School Baseball Player of the Year are; Tyler Tewell (Butler High School), Ryan Stetson (Ardrey Kell High School), Corey Roberts (Olympic High School) and Luke Bard (Charlotte Christian.)

    The finalists for the Greater Charlotte High School Softball Player of the Year are; Allie Cashion (Weddington High School), Kalie Lang (Ardrey Kell High School) and Chelsea Stamey (Butler High School.)

    In a new category for this year, the finalist for the York (SC) County High School Baseball Player of the Year are; Tyler Miller (Fort Mill High School), Brad Zebedis (South Pointe High School), Seth Neely (Rock Hill High School) and Cody Johnson (Nations Ford High School).

    The Greater Charlotte Area Hot Stove League also announced the addition of a Team of The Year Award, open to all baseball and softball teams in the area. The four finalists selected are; The Matthews Athletic and Recreation Association 11U All Star Baseball Team, The Community House Middle School Baseball Team, The Fort Mill 12U All Star Baseball Team and the Ardrey Kell High School Baseball Team.

    Another new award this year is the Scholar Athlete Award to honor those student–athletes that excel on the field and in the classroom. The finalists for the award are; Kelsey Spurrier (Butler High School), Steven Hummell (Providence Day), Megan Robertson (Marvin Ridge High School), Eric Manser (Lake Norman High School) and Joseph Shealy (South Mecklenburg High School.)

    The Coaches Curing Kids Cancer Youth Baseball Player of the Year Award finalists are; Foster Machicote (Community House Middle School), Andrew MacLatchie (Providence High School), Jackson Campana (Providence High School) and Nick Salisbury (United Faith Christian Academy.)

    The SCSR Action Sports Photography Youth Softball Player of the Year finalists are; Emily Scott (Myers Park High School), Erin Robertson (Marvin Ridge High School), Katie Williford (Northwest Cabarrus Middle School) and Elena Covert (Providence High School.)

    This was a lot of fun last year and helps support the Miracle league - a great cause !

    This sounds like it would be fun to attend and prestiges to win. Congratulations to all of the girls nominated. What teams do they play for in the summer? Good Luck
