It's so exciting to see the posts on all the NC girls signing but at the same time I wonder if there are not a large number of really talanted kids that have seemingly been overlooked..... Any thoughts or names to throw out there for prospective programs?

every year i get at least a dozen phone calls from college coaches needing to fill spots on their roster. most are looking for a "coachable" player who can play multiple positions. so if you're going to list a talented young lady who's been overlooked by the college coaches, please list grad year, positions and highschool.

    thanks in advance

hey cheeze, is it "overlooked" or "under-promoted"? Like in baseball these days, it really is up to the player to get exposure. It's their future, why leave it in someone elses hands!

    Disagree somewhat

Why I agreed the player must write coaches, provide profiles, possibly videos, and other items to college coaches, the HS and Travel coaches can join "the team" and provide e-mails, reference letters, face to face discussions with coaches, and guidance to the prospective player. A travel coach is not doing his job if he does not assist in the promotion of his players. I know many of the NC travel coaches do a nice job assisting their players and several of the HS coaches spend many hours supporting their players as well.
If all parties do their job, the girls are not left wondering why they were not recruited.:wheelchair:

in most cases, its underpromoted. hate to say it, but most hs coaches just dont have a clue as to how to promote their girls. we're trying to start giving clinics on how to do this, but believe it or not, the hesitation from the hs system is pretty great. many of the travel ball coaches were guilty of the same, but the tb system is getting more educated as they are exposed to more college coaches, clinics and showcase tournaments.

Abby, you're right in that the hs and tb coaches are an integral part of the process, it first must begin with the player. I've seen too many hs baseball players in the past that had talent but never took the responsibility upon themselves to get themselves in a position to be helped. As Cheeze said, hs coaches can be hit or miss in the recruiting process. The players, and their parents, need to be proactive by getting the ball rolling. The coaches, especially the tb coaches, will jump in and be most helpful with the players that show the most initiative.

I agree that much of the recruiting responsibility falls directly to the player, but I'm sure there are instances where tho contacts were sent different programs may have interest or player needs. I was aware of a really exceptional kid -true utility in every respect, good bat, attitude, grades, but didn't get noticed until late July prior to entering colege. Just seemed to me that she was such a work-horse and made players around her shine..... Those are the kids I'm talking about that just don't always get "seen" at the right time - and I'm sure they are out there.

    edit

I corrected the original post with Kasey's grad. date, school, and pos.

like dobber stated she can fly...if she puts it in play, its usually hard to throw her out...and got a gun from the outfield
