Most profilic JUCO in the Carolina's?

Based on record, postseason success, and getting guys into Division 1 who is the best Junior College in South/North Carolina?

 

That's a great question. Although we discussed this recently, it appears the powers are changing a little. Spartanburg Methodist is always solid and have much success. Lenoir is another with an excellent baseball program and getting stronger each year. Then you have historically strong Surry County, Pitt and Louisburg. I'm sure others will post any that I missed, but one won't go wrong with those programs.

I'm especially partial to Surry. I think Coach Lowe will carry forward everything that Mark Tucker has accomplished and may take it to another level...the National Championship

 

My loyalties lie with Mark Tucker and Jamie Lowe. Tucker started Surry from nothing and made it a team that went to a world series. Lowe is a great coach and he will do a great job for them.

The tough thing about today's environment for JC coaches is there are a lot more JC's than there used to be and it's tougher to get the type of kids who can make a program take giant leaps in one year like there was before.

I would have to say Pitt is the up and coming program in the region now. Also, because lenoir plays in Div 2 they will have a chance to go to the JC D2 world series every year.

In general, the region X is not considered one of the top regions for baseball. Louisburg, SMC, Pitt, and Surry could compete and win in any part of the countries. But, it's not the same as Florida, GA, TN. I'm a huge supporters and would love to have players from most of the teams in the region X but it's just the facts.

All that said...

Louisburg and Spartanburg methodist are heads and shoulders above every one else when it comes to traditions, championships, and sending players on to the next level. Their programs have been doing it for decades. Every coach on the east coast is familiar with their programs.

 

SMC - top juco

After doing some research and talking with different scouts and coaches, it seems as if no other JUCO can match what Spartanburg Methodist has to offer.
-98 wins the last 2 years (3rd and 12th nationally)
-Over 60 Division 1 signees since 2001
-Tim Wallace - A former 2nd round pick as a head coach who has 18 years of coaching experience while averaging 40 wins a year
-On-campus dorms and cafeteria

and have worked camps with "Bubba" at S/M and he is as good and as DIE HARD a Baseball man as YOU WILL EVER find! He has forgotten more baseball than most people on this board will ever know! I admire him greatly. He is a great person, and it is ABOUT TIME he has gotten some recognition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Louisburg

General Overview: The Louisburg College baseball program has been one of the most successful programs in the country for the past forty-six years. The Hurricanes have won twenty-five conference championships, ten district championships and have made ten appearances in the NJCAA College World Series. During the course of the past forty-six years, over eighty players have signed professional contracts. In the program’s history, twelve Louisburg College alumni have played major league baseball. Over 70 percent have gone on to graduate from four year institutions. Very few junior college programs parallel Louisburg College's baseball tradition.

 

Agree!!

I have to agree on this one. I attended Louisburg College in the late 70's, early 80's. Caoch Russ Frazier guyed the team to 2 JUCO world series while I was there. He has got to be considered one of the best college coaches in the game.

 

all the schools are great here is a list of the schools in NC that compete in Region X Which is one of the Most successful for moving players forward on the east coast

Is their any difference in a CC and JC other than dorms?

 

I rattled that list off my head I kinda like the first one but Hey
mostly the difference between CC and JC is MONEY in state CC's are in the neighbor hood of $2000 per year for tuition and books and that will not really get a lot at the private JC's, as far as level of education, sport programs etc not much difference
