WOW Sportguru!! A trifecta at bashing, Bigdan I think your the only one he spared!
    Too Funny!
Now that I'm not laughing ...
The FHS -MCD contests rarely come down to the Stars- They do their part(always Have)...the supporting casts play always determines this winner and THAT IS HARD TO PREDICT!

sportsguru get off my asp man. Please go back and bring up a post where I have made excuses for any McDowell loses this year. U come on here spewing ur bs and u don't know what ur talking about. I do not Hate anybody at Freedom. I work in Morganton and know many of the parents and coaches down there. The Freedom-McDowell games are the most exciting part of the season for me and yes I love to beat them because they are always the best team we play. It's kinda like the Tar heel-Duke thing,I don't hate Coach K or any Duke players,I just hate to lose to them.:muetze:

Good point dribbles...the secondary contributers usually have a significant impact on the outcome on the game. I'll give my thoughts on that in a second...

Some aspects from last month that I don't see happening again tonight...

    1. I would be very suprised if Both Connelly and Ward have poor offensive outings like they did at the Christmas tourney. I know both players dedicate a lot to the defensive end but still, both girls had a poor night shooting. Both Coach Fox and Franklin are too good a coaches, I'm sure they'll have something in mind to get their player good looks.

    2. The turnover discrepancy won't be as large. If Freedom duplicates the same game tonight as they did three weeks ago (4 turnovers) then I'll run for mayor of Morganton. That said the Lady Titans must do a better job with the ball, especially in the opening minutes.

Now back to the scoring breakdown...

For Freedom, my guess is that you should expect a combined 45 points from Ford and Connelly...then between 20-25 for the rest of their players. That's as high as 70 points. If Freedom gets to 70 or higher, most likely they'll have a solid double-digit performance (12 or more) from a secondary source (Jazz, Olivia, Keonna, Jewell). If the Lady Pats get that, they'll win.

For McDowell, I think a combined 40 from Gellman and Ward and 15-20 from the other starters puts the Lady Titans at 55-60. The key IMO for McDowell to win is a good offensive effort from their second string. If the reserves (Maney, Brackett, Thomas, Gallion) scored a combined 15, we are in a position to win...if they combine for 20, the odds are even better.

Coach Franklin has done a good job at making his team a deeper squad. There have been two occasions already this season where the second string have been catalysts for second half rallies.

Anyway...this should as usual be fun to watch regardless of which team wins.
