It was a vintage McDowell-Freedom game. McDowell lead after the 1st by 2 and Freedom lead at the half by 4. The teams played about even through 3 but McDowell made a run mid-way through the 4th and built a 10 point lead. But as usual Freedom came clawing back, pulling to within 3 with less than a minute to play. After a couple of Freedom turnovers McDowell iced the win at the line. Ali Ford finished with 11 points. What a way to finish the history of the greatest rivalry ever in the NW4A conference at the Titan Dome.

I sat right behind Coach Franklin and his lady titans tonight. Before the game began Coach Franklin was sitting on the bench looking tense and concerned. I got his attention and told him to loosen up and gave him a big thumbs up before the game started. I then sat there and watched a great coach go to work. Several times in the second half McDowell trailed by as many as 8 but the coach would call a time out and encourage the girls to stay with the game plan. Like sportsguru just pointed out I believe Freedom was just slightly out coached tonight. Not taking anything away from coach Fox because she had her team right there at the end even though Ford was having a very sub-par game,a lot of that was because McDowell played outstanding defense on her. Freedom has nothing to be ashamed about after tonight.I'm sure it will be another great battle when the lady titans travel to Freedom and it won't surprise me if Freedom prevails on their home court but tonight belonged to Coach Franklin and the Lady Titans.:basket::hyper:

    Great game tonight as expected...

A back and forth battle through the first half. Freedom got some momemtum at the end of the half when Lewis nailed a three-pointer to give the Lady Pats a 4 point lead. That mo carried over past the break...two quick baskets by Freedom got the margin to 8 and to be honest I thought this would be where the Lady Patriots would start to seperate...

McDowell really bared down and played a strong 3 quarter after the initial blow. The game really turned with about 3 mins left in the 3rd when Connelly got foul #3 stopping a breakaway. The Lady Titans quickly took the lead after that for good. We got it as high as 13 a couple minutes into the 4th quarter before Freedom made one last charge. We missed some free throws which allowed the Lady Pats to trim it back down to as low as 4 points. McDowell regained composure and put it away in the final minute.

Connelly, who is playing at less than 100 percent gutted it out, I think she finished with 17. That earns my respect anyday. The complementary players for Freedom scored but it wasn't enough. As far as Ford goes...she couldn't impose her own will on the game, (3 for 18 FG's) therefor they didn't have much of an advantage after halftime.

Four McDowell starters in double digits. Ward with 17, Gellman with 12 and 15 boards. Not exactly the 30 some thought she needed but it did the job. The reserves got some key baskets here and there and were key in other aspects but the overall scoring of the starting five was the most impressive.

BTW, I said at the start of the year that a game in the 60's would be in McDowell's favor...we don't need the prolific scoring only because Freedom struggles their own selves in scoring against quality competition. Tonight was an example of that.

    ATTITUDES

I have watched freedom play the last few years, it seems to me whenever a foul or turnover is called against them they always look at the refs like they are stupid. They seem to get more called on them because of this. Its usually the same 4 girls who do this

Congrats to McDowell and Franklin, good game plan--kids did what you asked.
FHS needs 2 get back to the playing to win (instead of not to lose) tempo that beat Roberson and Forestview (twice each)
