It would be interesting to see if the people at Northwest Guilford would take Self back after he ditched them in his senior year to go after "bigger and better things" at Veritas.

If I was a player who had been at Northwest for a few years and had never quite cracked the starting lineup, I'd be angry if Self returned to Northwest and stepped right back in as the ace pitcher and cleanup hitter.

Somewhere at Northwest, there's a kid that will get an opportunity to start this year that would not get that same opportunity if Self comes back. For that young man's sake, I hope that Northwest Guilford does the right thing and plays the kids who have been committed to their program through thick and thin, rather than chasing exposure and prestige.

And there's no way Self is going to Southwest Guilford. Reed Holmes wouldn't have any of that.

Hope everything works OK for the guys at Veritas but if not, maybe they will learn a lesson about commitment and finishing what you started.

Put the best team on the field

Competition is the name of the game.

If someone could make the team better and they are available (for whatever reason) - I would think that you should put the best team on the field.

However, also for team chemistry you should make sure that each person knows their role and is willing and able to fulfill it.

    Love IT!!!!

"Put the best on the field."
"Be committed to those players that have put forth the effort."
    ect...ect...ect..

Fact is if these kids lose on a decision by their parents. Does it give them an open door? Money talks and this will be up to the schools and coaches. I will say they will start in the spring no penalty. Right or wrong rules are rules. To many ways around around them. This goes back to threads on transfers and showcase team players. Family decision. I just say pay the price for your choice.

Have not seen these boys in an while but they are good boys. I hope everything works out for them and the rest of them at Veritas. I don't know where they live anymore. Logan is headed to Campbell while I think Mark is headed to A&T.

Classes with INCOMPLETE do not count as passed classes, therefore it could hurt eligibility.

Thought that might be the case. It could also affect their college rides to. Would be sad.

    Transferring becomes challenge

Transferring from Veritas to some public schools has become a challenge. The block and traditional schools has limited options even for those hoping to return to their previous school.

PLATE DAD WHY ARE YOU SUCH A HATER? Did either of these boys do anything to you? You don't even know them. Who are to judge their deciscion or that of their parents? Could be because of people like you that they left their original high school or maybe even they left to better themself. Unlike you, they don't hide behide their computer and run their mouth. They are trying and praying for the best possible ending to this unfortunate situation. It might do you good to do the same.

Foul Ball, I think most of us are praying for these kids. I know I have. And I pray for the school. It's a great concept.

I can't totally speak for PD but it's not Veritas that bothers him. He and I have spoken about it. It's the whole thing of sports over education. Less focus on HS baseball and more on other baseball activities.

I would think if a kid wanted to transfer for whatever reason that now would be a great time to do it. At the block schools in Guilford County exams are currently going on. I would think a kid could start next week at a school on the block system and be present for teh beginnning of the course.
