Forget the age group. Its a major problem for families that want their kids to participate in travel ball but still wish to be in their church on Sunday morning. To answer your question, there is no way to start a large tourney on Friday night and finish it on Sunday late afternoon without playing on Sunday morning. If you want to participate, you will have to find a way to reconcile that fact.
Our travel team compensated for this by having a devotional time each Sunday morning prior to our first game. Maybe we were just trying to make ourselves feel better about the choice we made I can tell you that I caught hell from a former pastor who went on regular tirades from the pulpit about Sunday sporting events.

In my opinion, if there is a concern (it's a legitimate one) about playing 8-9 yo travel ball vs attending a Sunday worship, I don't believe there is a question.

But, I'm not a proponent of travel ball at that age anyway.

Amen to that! no pun intended... well, maybe a little

I've heard talk of "travel" T-ball teams and coach pitch teams, can you say pass the plate brother?

T-ball and coach pitch seems ridiculous. The kids should be learning to have fun and not take the game too serious.

it's out there b/c there's a lot of daddy's who thought they were good and junior is going to be the next big thing. Let your kids be kids, your playing days are over.

I agree. We are getting alot of 1st year kid pitch teams traveling. And quiet a few coach pitch teams are travelings. Crazy to me, "BUT" Rec. leagues will they are built for Daddy ball, probally more so than travel ball. I take that back, it really depends on the county you are in. No worry, I have never let my kids miss church to play ball. Not yet anyway......

i'm talking to all the overzealous parents who push their kids into travel ball too early. We have way too many 19, 20, and 21 year olds having surgeries normally had by 36, 37, and 38 year olds. I like the concept of travel ball but we must teach proper mechanics and fundamentals, develop bodies, and then start travelling.
