Braves, Putt & 27.... I will apologize for refering to you in my post. Nothing else. It seems that your opinions are ok while mine are not. Ok, I can live with that. I have posed only questions & an a opinion. I refer to others opinions and facts that they have presented. I wish the school the best and the kids. To get respect you must give it. Respect my opinion or not. I have hoped that these kids would find a place without losing anything. But if asking if they may lose something can only be seen as being negative or If you offer something for free and asking if it is really free. I think are fair questions. I am glad to see the young men grow. And I will still ask the questions.

First let me say that my son was in the application process and we were very intrigued by Veritas, more for the educational and cultural experience rather than the sport. We decided, based on our doubts of long term sustainability, that we'd pull out of consideration. We are close to an administrative person over there and know many kids in the program well. For those close to the situation, all of this stuff is not news.

However, can I just say that we need to say prayers for people struggling with deadly diseases, the econominc crisis, people killed in wars, parents with "challenged" kids, etc. The fact that a teenager may have to leave a free sports/academic school and head to public school that 99% of America attend is not the end of the world. Many of these kids (not all) are middle to upper class and will not doubt adjust and move on just fine.

I do pray; however, for the staff. They are left with nothing, no pay for months, some moved to Greensboro for this. All because someone put the cart before the horse. That kind of financial change can impact a family for years, especially now.

Having said that, I wish the students and parents well in the adjustment process. If they are true to the academic/faith based experience, there are other options besides public shcool. If it's about the sport, they'll find their way back to a varsity team in the area. It's already happened in fact.

Let's all just understand that if this is the worst thing that happens to a kid or a parent, they're better off than most in this world.

    Wolfpacnut and others.

If you do not have a child in this school, please do not make comments about how easy it will be to "move on". I resent the comments made, and know without question that the spiritual and academic part of this school is what has set it apart for almost every student there. Unfortunatley, we are not in a position to afford Christian school, nor have I ever met a student from a Christian school that could come close to having the spiritual changes that I have seen in the students at Veritas. This experience has truly been different.

It is unfortunate that the school is having financial difficulties, and YES by all means the teachers , administrators, and coaches deserve prayer and financial bailout!!!! But so do the the students! These are 14 yrs olds +, hardly grown up enough to understand their new found relationship with God , nor able to understand how He could be allowing this to happen. I know there are some very ,very fragile boys out there right now. I have seen them with my own eyes. Please do not discount their questioning and hurting. The parents, yes, we will be OK. But the kids deserve our understanding and prayer too. Baseball, will go on one way or another for these boys if they continue to want it, unfortunatley, I am not sure the rest will.

Again, it is with great hope that he school will find a way to continue. There are some people that want it very much and are working very hard to make it happen. It would be a real shame if other boys do not have the possibility of having this experience too.

It's sad that we can find a way to continue on with baseball but without Veritas Sports Academy we might not be able to continue on with faith and education.

God and faith are free and they are everywhere and anywhere......not just at Veritas.

Congratulations on your childs transformation.....there is no reason that it can't continue if VSA does not.

Again, you are not going through this with your son. I sure hope that you are right, and that the faith will continue if and when the school does not. Many students are just beginning this journey, and for some reason the folks at Veritas have managed to do what NO church, minister, or otherwise has done. I really hope for these kids sake you are right. Yes it is free, but you have to experience it before you buy in to it.

I truly hope that through your journey of life with your son, you never have to hurt the way we as parents are right now for our son. I do not wish this on anyone.

    Braves,

Can you please shut this one down.....we all wish the students, teachers, staff and school the best and will continue to keep them in our prayers.

I'm afraid this is going to end up down a road we don't need to discuss on TBR.....your help please. :helpsmilie:
