    Respectful
    Takes Order
    FAIR!
Calls the game to the best of his ability regardless of conditions (rain/snow/score/fans/coaches/etc)
    Isn't 'power happy'
Not out to prove his superiority
    Most importantly

Loves the game as much as the kids playing it. And wants to see each and every kid on the field grow and prosper.

One you hardly notice, but everyone knows he's in charge.

Doesn't have to be perfect, but does have to get in position to make the call.

Commands respect and is respectful of the game, the coaches and the players... and the fans if they have earned it!

    Is consistent... consistently.

Loves the game and being a part of it.

    Doesn't take himself too seriously!

One that works with their partners to get a call right....or at least try to get it right.

One that gets in position to get the call right.......or at least try to get it right.

One that knows the rules to call the game right.......or at least try to get it right.

You get my point.......we're not perfect, umps will make errors....just make the errors doing the things umps are supposed to do. I can live with that.

My worst ump call ever.......my man called "infield fly rule" on a ball that hit the dirt behind first although no one went after it......but AFTER all the runners were safe and the ball was back to the pitcher. It was an after the fact infield fly rule call. When I tried to explain that the rule was intended to protect the runners.....who were now all safe.....he threatened to toss me.

respect the game and its participants
make your strike calls loud and clear or atleast be consistent
don't chat too much with a coach, player, or other umpire... but don't have a cold shoulder the whole night
    know the count
