This should be on the next level I guess but there are so many local kids on these teams that it may deserve mentioning here.

UNC-W plays UNC Tarheels at 4 pm, Wed., Feb. 11.

Among the players from this area: Breanna Brown, Carley Hughes, Morgan Walters, Michelle Harrison, Rachel Sawyer, Sammie Lasowsky, Jen Ladd, Amanda Davenport, Katie Kisner, Kelsey Eddinger.

With a 4 pm game time there will be no good reason for missing it.

Let the girls have your cars; y'all ride their bus. Windmiller will keep you straight--he took good care of Brett.

Hopefully, I'll get a chance to meet some of ya'll at the game. I've already told my DD's basketball coach that she won't be at practice that day... One must set one's priorities!

On a side note, and I don't really mean to hijack this thread... but I need to vent a little!
My DD is on the jv basketball team and yesterday at practice the varsity coach had the jv girls scrimmage the varsity girls. Now, there are like 12 or 14 varsity players but evidently the second five can't give the first five as good a challenge as the jv can. This had nothing to do with making the jv better... it was all about the varsity. This was obvious because every time the jv stole the ball, got on a fast break or just in general, beat out the varsity, the coach would blow his whistle and stop the play. This went on for a while to the frustration of some of the jv players, including my DD. Finally, she huddled up her team and told them if they had a break away or saw the chance for one , they should keep going until they scored... to heck with the whistle! This was jv's practice time and she figured it wasn't much practice if you don't finish the play!
God! Softball can't get here soon enough!

    Were you at practice?

What is wrong with the varsity coach utilizing all of the girls to get them ready for their next game? It allowed the JV players a chance to work with the entire team instead of by themselves. Not sure if you can name the last JV State Championship team. Sorry for venting but we always hear how the JV is isolated and never get exposure with the Varsity. Here they are and still complaining. Cheer the coach on, make the varsity work harder to improve and never know your daughter might be moving up to the varsity after her exposure yesterday. Good luck

Damn, didn't know the "Post" police were out today

The last jv state champs were probably from Mecklenburg County and were made up of players that all transferred to one school... get real!

DD has already been talked to about moving up for the playoffs... she'll pass, it's time to get ready for softball. A sport, at this school, where the politics, favoritism and BS are left outside the gate.
