Tonight's game between Butler and East Meck will likely determine the SW4A regular season champ. If Butler wins, they all but wrap up the conference (would have to win 1 of last 3 games). If East Meck wins, both teams would have to win out for co - championship. The game is at East Meck.

Here is a summary of the state rankings :
Butler - #1 by Maxpreps, # 2 by NC Preps
East Meck - #3 by Maxpreps, #6 by NC Preps

Butler has already beat East Meck twice but can look forward to playing them 3 more times, possibly. Here are the previous results:

    Bojangles Shootout
    Butler - 62
    East Meck - 47

    First Conference Game
    Butler - 50
    East Meck - 43

East Meck is not an easy place to play so Butler will have to deal with a loud crowd. There was a lot of back and forth strategy in the second game - look for that to continue tonight.

I know the NW4A top teams should be interested in this game tonight!
NW #1 seed will likely see Butler---#2 seed will likely see East Meck
That is assuming that they all get to the 3rd round.

Dribbles- From what I hear the Northwestern 4A #6 which is Watauga might have to go play Butler in round one.

    Butler - 65
    East Meck - 54

East Meck led by 6 at the end of the 1st quarter and led by 8 at halftime. They played at a very quick pace - uptempo in the 1st half (following a very slow pace in the last game). Butler closed the gap in 2 1/2 minutes and led by 5 at the end of the 3rd.

The East Meck coaching staff had a great strategy and it took Butler a while to respond. Ceara Burdick had an unbelievable 2nd half with 15 points - scoring from the inside and outside.

Full house at East Meck and a great basketball environment. Both teams will be tough in the playoffs.

Butler wraps up the conference with a win Friday against South Meck.

Yeah if Watauga makes it as a wild card berth they'll have to play a top seed, it all depends on how the NCHSAA sets those matchups...travel usually has a big influence on where the Wild Cards end up.

Butler will host a Wild Card in the first round - you are correct.

    In fact, Butler's first 3 playoff games could be against the NW4A. Game 1 - Wild Card, Game 2 - NW #4 and Game 3 - NW #1. The NW4A # 1 would host the SW4A#1.

Of course, that is based on a lot of assumptions, as we all know it is one game at a time in the playoffs.

I would love to see Butler and East Meck play, sounds like they have great teams. Just don't think they should be allowed to compete against other public school teams that do not recruit all the best players to one school. Put all those schools in a classification and let them go at it. That would be fun to watch, and fair to all.
