Who are the pitchers available? and tell us something about him?

There are coaches reading the board that would like to get the name of a player(s) they may have overlooked.

Use this thread to make a compelling reason why a coach needs to recruit a particular player

This is the time of year players and their parents start to get nervous about their son not signing, yet there are many opportunities still available. In many cases, a coach wants to see the kid play and here is the opportunity to get his name out there for them to go watch.

I'd like to see our HS coaches (and others) post the names of players they have seen in and out of their program that they recommend.

Taylor Atkins - 2009 RHP Northeast Guilford

Taylor Atkins 2009 RHP from Northeast Guilford High School is going to be a steal - He is 6'3, 185 throws an effortless 86-87 right now with great control and off speed. Simply he is a late bloomer, he is a hard worker that is just coming into his own and he is going to get much better. His brother Mitch Atkins (on 40 man Chicago Cubs roster) also improved rapidly late in high school. Contact the Greensboro Batting Center (855-6637) or Tony Sutphin - GBC Prepstars to contact Taylor.

Paul McIntosh at JH Rose HS, Greenville. He is not an extremely hard thrower, but has awesome control, several pitches, and gets batters out. This guy is a competitor. Also an extremely good student. I do not have contact information, so maybe others more familiar with Paul can chime in.

I don't post here often, but I am the head coach at Central Cabarrus High School. I have a senior pitcher that is very interesting. His name is Davarren Hamilton.
Davarren is a lefty who throws in the mid-80's. He is an unknown mainly because of two things:
1- He was hurt and only threw a few innings last year due to an injury suffered during basketball
2- He has always been basketball 1st until recently....and just now is starting to come into his own.
Davarren has a very high ceiling. He is athletic (can dunk two hands with one step @ 6-1), strong as ox and is a great kid (attitude-wise and in the classroom - 3.4 GPA with a tough schedule). He has worked out at UNC-Wilmington and got great reviews, but he doesn't have the numbers that most people use to get attention and didn't play on one of the big name teams.
If interested, email me at [email protected] or click on the "Contact Coach Knight" section of our baseball website (www.ccvikingsbaseball.com). I pitched for three years in the minor leagues, so I know upside when I see it. If you have further questions, email Ronnie Bost (head coach at Hickory Grove) who was his Legion coach and who also pitched in the pros.
Thanks in advance for any help you could give. He's a wonderful young man who deserves a shot. Coach Knight

Wow--he sounds like an amazing athlete and an outstanding student. I have a strong feeling that Davarren will garner much attention during the season.

He sounds like a steal!!! Thanks for posting this, Coach...and good luck to your school this season. Central Cabarrus does not grow hitters---they breed them

    Josh Darroach

Sr RHP South Granville HS. Played for the Carolina Cubs last summer and fall. He was our #2 last year behind Maynard and will our #1 this year. He can pitch. He works in the 85-87 range with a great cb and slider. He was outstanding last year. Grades are an issue or he would have already signed. He is going to have to go the juco route. Just pm me. He has some offers already so asap , he wont be around much longer.

    Taylor Atkins

I had the opportunity to see Taylor Atkins at the Impact Baseball Pitcher and Catcher Showcase and he was one of the most impressive of the unsigned seniors as you can see here in my notes online from the event.
