NICE LOOKIONG POLL! I'd put Sanderson higher (#5) and drop FV out (but they are still good). At 9 and 10 I'd think about a Wilmington school, Midsoutheastern Conf. school, Huntersville Hopewell, Durham Jordan, or Apex.

With that said, my poll would be:
    1. Rose
    2. Ardrey Kell
    3. Providence
    4. West Forsyth
    5. Sanderson
    6. South Caldwell
    7. Watauga
    8. Myers Park
    9. Hopewell
    10. Jordan

To be honest, Durham Riverside has more returning players than does Jordan. IT may actually be a toss-up for the top 2 PAc-6 spots between them. JOrdan has less experience returning, but oth teams have some tremendous talent. Expect both to be ranked during the season.

While it is fun to speculate and put in a 2 cents worth, the only poll that matters is the one after the State Championships

Thought I would do a little checking of Impact’s preseason poll from last year compared to the final poll.

Of the 40 teams in the preseason rankings (10 in each class) only 19 appeared in the final poll after the state championships. Just one team, Rocky Mount, started and finished the season number one in their class. In the 2A classification, Orange, the state champion did not appear in the initial poll.

So what do the polls really mean? Well, according to this sampling, you have a better change of finishing the season ranked if you start the year unranked. The odds of winning the state championship are exactly the same, be it if you were ranked number one to start the season or complete out of the poll. The only thing predictable is that the final rankings will be unpredictable.

    Bottom line:
    1. There is no coloration to being ranked and winning games.
    2. There are more and more excellent teams each year as the talent pool has grown.
    3. Time to start playing, it is going to be a great season.

Yeah, I was going to post the "Wilmington area", but I have absolutely no idea how those teams will do this year. I wish we could gain some Wilmington posters.

    2 Rivers Conference

Okay, I'll bite. The general consensus for the 2 Rivers Con.(Fayetteville area) is:
    Lumberton
    Southview
    Cape Fear
    Pine Forest
    Purnell Swett
    Terry Sanford
    EE Smith

    Any thoughts?

Lumberton beat us in the playoffs last year, 2-0. Southview is Coahed by a good friend of mine, Scott Ellis. Both teams will be very good this year. Cape Fear always is very competitive, and I hear that Terry Sanford may be a suprise team this year. BUt I still see Lumberton and South View as 1-2 though not necessaryily in that order.

Lumberton will have the pitching to hang with everyone in the Two Rivers. Scoring runs may be an issue though. Two year starter at second base moves to SS and will have to perform and they have to find a catcher. Otherwise, pretty solid core returning from a team that got hot late and made it four rounds deep last year.
