Make the Kids do the Work

Pdaddy and Marlin you guys are so right. The coaches no matter how wonderful and Type A likable Mom and Dad are want to hear from and get to know DD.
DD is going to be where the Coaches invest time energy and hopefully MONEY.
No Matter how SHY or HUMBLE DD is, if she wants to go to the Big leagues she is going to have to step up and be a BIG LEAGUE CANIDATE and sale her self to these Coaches. This is no longer HS or TB where everybody knows Suzie is a Horse with Great Work Ethics and good grades.
Yes if DD wants the D1 opportunity then DD is going to have get her Shy little self on the internet and Send Emails WEEKLY if not Daily to the Coach She wants to play for and get rid of the fear of rejection. :banghead:
The only thing worse than being rejected is not giving yourself a chance to be REJECTED.
Take it form one who is first hand experiencing the difficulties of the Shy Humble DD not wanting to do the kissing up as she calls it.
However in the real world of life it is not always kissing up as much as it is just getting the chance to be noticed for what you have worked to be recognized for.
Speaking from experience again My DD had the opportunity to play for a team with one of the best team coach represenatives for the ladies on the TB circuit S.C./ Pdaddy did a super job. But the Girls have to close the deal with their efforts .
As most of us I could and have harped on this for days on end.
Bottom line they can send 10,000 text messages a month to all the friends on My Space and in their pbooks but they have trouble sending 4 emails a month to a coach they want to spend 4 - 5 years with.

I suggest we take the cell phones away on Saturday morning give their tired little fingers a rest from texting and on Sunday night if they have sent the emails they need to send give the the cell phones back .
Hmmm!!! a little harsh but I bet they will appreciate it when the get the opportunity to do what they want to do.

Here in Ohio, most HS coaches are totally clueless or couldn't care about getting a girl seen or known by college coaches. For the money they are paid, who could blame them.

It is true that the girls need to be doing the majority of the leg work. The college coaches cannot read a girls mind. If a girl has an interest in a school, then the girl needs to let the school know of that interest. Most the the college coaches that I know of network with each other. If a girl cannot get in to a certain school, then that coach will let other coaches know that she is available (I do not see this happening with the top prospects though). The travel coach/organization will work to get the girls into a situation that will help get them seen (Showcases, Team Camps).

Communication, Communication, Communication. Girls, talk, write, email, call the college coaches. Talk to your Travel coach about what schools you are interested in and what your status is.

    still looking?

Are the athletes mentioned in this thread still looking for a place to play this fall?
If so, please contact Monica Gordy at Louisburg College at [email protected] with contact information and/or inquiries.
We are in the process of rebuilding and are still looking for quality players to join the 09-10 recruiting class.

Please young ladies pay attention to the key words in the post above "please contact".

Its been said before by many on here including me.. use ANY excuse to send a college coach an e mail and express your interest AND do it over and over and over again.

Someone said above that if a teenager can send a 1000 text messages a month surely sending one or two e mails isnt that big of a deal. I couldnt agree more.

The longer I am in this the more I believe that the single MOST important thing about recruitment is demonstrating a desire to that coach that you want to be a part of their program and attend their college or university.

If you are in the "ing" mode: waiting/wishing/hoping some school is going to show an interest, most likely you will be disappointed. You recruit the school.. the school doesnt recruit you.
