Regardless of it being Travel ball or not...at this time of year if more than 8 are on the field and a high school coach/volunteer are present, for some reason or another, it's illegal around here.

And believe it or not, but there's also a rule about mixing Middle School kids with High School kids...I couldn't tell you the particulars at this point though...cheeze probably can.

these were definately not middle school players, nor travel ball players, actually, i didnt see a ball player in the mix........just sayin.

as far as middle school girls mixing it up with hs girls, insurance wise, they are still covered under the county insurance policy...that much i have been told, but my AD doesnt believe a hs coach can have any contact other than assisting at the middle school practices or coaching at the middle school level.

    someone answer this one.

    cheez,
The whistle blowing thing is a tough question to answer as to whom should do it. But a casual mention to the coach or AD at the school you are concerned about the most would not hurt. Nobody should get an unfair advantage.

If you saw a hit and run, would you look the other way? If you are in a store and you saw someone shoplifting would you say something to the store manager? All of these affect you down the road indirectly. If the other pitcher is stepping back off the rubber when she pitches, do you say something? Why? Because it gives her an unfair advatage and because your pitcher is doing it right. That's why. And that is why this should be reported.

But ignoring it is the same as seeing a crime, any crime (and I do not want to over dramatize this) and not reporting it.

When everyone starts stepping up in all areas of our lives and being more accountable for our own actions, then it will get better.

I read a report and I agree with it. This is all Jimmy Carter's fault. When he changed the speed limit to 55, everybody ignored it, because we thought it was unneccessary and stupid. You, me, the cops, everybody. We all thought it was wrong, so we all ignored it and the police supported everyone ignoring it. So then police started giving us 5 mph over and now it is 7 or 8 mph over. So they raised the speed limits back up. So if we start looking the other way, what happens next and we can now see 20 years later that looking the other way is a normal and accepted way of life "when we do not agree with the rule or law." Where does it stop?

    JMHO,
    Ty

If some school or schools have been turned in before and has been punished in some way then the school that was practicing with 25 needs to be turned in. As was said in one of the other post's the coach, players, and parents all know the rules. If you decide to break the rules you deserve to be punished...plain and simple! If another school was doing this people wouldnt even hesitate to turn them in.

    Oh I agree wholeheartedly!

And not to be technical, but it's MORE than 8...one less than what constitutes a starting lineup is ok...and I have no clue why it matters to the rules makers.

WndMillr is right about this. Kids may not hear your words but they can be lead by an adults example. If you don't like the rule than do something to change it.

In these days and times getting 25 young ladies to participate in a voluntary positive athletic activity controlled by a positive role model adult trying to better themselves being against the "rules" is ridiculous. Let's think about the other activities these girl could be doing that night. Underage drinking while cruising with friends, experimenting with drugs, hooking up. Don't fool yourself idle teenagers will try things, remember? Limit it to 8 ? How many coaches have the time to hold 4 seperate practices for the 25 girls? No the coach will take his top 8 and exclude the weaker players that would benefit from this. This is a very sore subject with me as I have seen what a positive influence athletics can have on a young girl. Some of you will say try to get the NCHSAA to change rules. We have tried for years to get the pitching rubber moved to 43 ft after very serious injuries to no avail. Think about this, according to the rules I cannot do "T" work with my own dd in my yard during the dead period.
