Katie was named So Con player of the week for her performance this weekend. 5 for 11 with 3 HRs, 4 RBIs, 3 runs scored and a stolen base. This is her third So Con player of the week award.

Saw her crush one Saturday in her at bat of the day. Then they pretty much pitched around her the rest of the day.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Katie Boyd was named Southern Conference Player of the Week.

The honor is Boyd’s second-consecutive to begin the season and fourth of her career. Jennifer Golden of College of Charleston was the last person to win in back-to-back weeks as she did in 2007. Boyd hit .700 over the weekend at the Kickin’ Chicken Classic as she was 7-for-10 and had multi-hit games in 3-for-4 ASU games. She went 2-for-2 against both Virginia Tech and Coastal Carolina and went 2-for-4 with three RBI’s in the win over Maine. She had only one hit against Western Carolina but had a season-high four RBIs. In the four games, the sophomore had 10 RBIs, five runs scored, two home runs and was walked four times, three intentionally.

We got a chance to watch her in Myrtle Beach and she had a great weekend. Not only impressive at the plate but also made some nice plays in the field. Unassisted double play against Coastal probably saved the game. Very deserving of player of the week.
