I heard yesterday that Chelseas wanted to come back late in the season, but Lousville might not want her to.

Apex could be a sleeper...made it to 4th round of playoffs last year and only lost ONE senior

    What You Want----

What you want might not be good for the body; 6-8 months recovery on severe tear of ACL...If I were Loiusville she wouldn't come back for highschool ball it isn't worth losing one of the best pitchers in The USA !! I would make sure of it !!!

Can't see Leonard coming back, can't take that kind of chance! she is a great one!
Many good teams this year, I feel East Surry has a good shot this year, I like ND and NM, but there are other teams that will suprise you this year, they will fly under the radar............
What about Butler v AC, they play each other the first of the season! that will be a good one! any other good games at the first of the season? any other matchups worth going to see early in the season?

Might make it interesting then in the CCC. Without Leonard, Ledford could give them a run for their money. I believe 3/4 games last year they played were won by 1 or 2 runs.

    CFV 3A Conference

Prediction: Triton will be #1 seed in 3A Cape Fear Valley Conference and take it to the final 4 once again.

Triton returns less 2 senior all conference players, Jordyn Coats and Brittany Davis, but more importantly returns with Stephanie Wood, Holly Howard, Kelsey Lee and Jenna Lee from last years roster and powerhouse, all state pitcher, Candice Faircloth. Faircloth and Lee made a powerful combination on the rubber and behind the plate, but they return with bats in their line up and speed on the base path.

Harnett Central, who has been crown princess of the fastpitch world in the CFVC lost 5 seniors last year, including Toni Ann Willis and Heather Nobles. While McKenzie ("Shorty Mac") of the Wildcats does return to HC, some notable injuries coupled with the loss of the 5 seniors will be felt. With Tori Willis off the roster for now, due to shoulder injury, and Jessi Lane also out for now, this sets HC back 7 players at season's start. Amelia Hardy (Soph; Carolina Bombs), Logan Weiss (Soph) and Tori Matthews (Fr; Carolina Bombs) seem to be favored for outfield this season, which provides speed both on the grass on the base paths. Fr. Amber Benton and Soph. Sara Klingle could add spice to the varsity level as well. Emma Cotton (Jun; formerly with Cape Fear Storm White) seems to be favored to taking over pitching duties.

Grey's Creek returns for the '09 season with Senior Pitcher Jessica Farmer on the rubber. This left pitcher can sling the tater and play all corners, making it a tough outing for some CFV opponents.

Southern Lee loses pitcher Katie Holmes, and their pitching appears iffy for the upcoming season. They do, however, return Blackmon, Dew and VT signee BK Smith to the line up.

Western Harnett returns Kerstine Womble (p; Soph; Cape Fear Storm White) and Caroline Womble (ss; Soph; Cape Fear Storm White), their 2 all conference/district/state selections in 2008 season, along with Sierra Holmes (2nd/C; Soph). Womack and Holmes both supply strong bats, while Womack and Womble also provide speed on the base paths. Given this team played with a roster of 9 in the 08 season and 2 of those were seniors (Hockenberry & Williams), this potentially leaves 7 open spots on their roster and a potentially shaky season. '10 season holds most hope for this team as several talented young ladies will be entering HS ball at that time, especially in light of WHHS's basketball team looking to go deep into the state playoffs, meaning the season will start minus Womble and Womack.

    Prediction:

    1) Triton
    2) Gray's Creek
    3) South Johnston
    4) Harnett Central
    5) Western Harnett
    6) Southern Lee
    7) Union Pines
    8) Overhills
