THIS IS DEFINITELY UNTRUE. How would I know? I'm the assistant coach at Riverside, and this rumor started about the same time another coach in Durham started "recruiting" and using this as a tactic when he was talking to middle school players. I know this because I have had parents ask me the same thing and then tell me where they got the info from.

**Let it be known that I DID NOT name anyone in this thread**

Can't wait to get up there and throw from the "Termite Hill" again, coach. Every pitcher I've had loves throwing off that mound- said they feel 8' tall!!

    Good luck this season!

I am a proud parent of a Hopewell varsity player. I'm not sure if anyone know's anything about them.A team that had a coaching change last year went 23-5. 10-1 home record. scored 246 runs, while only giving up 78.A team that sent 6 guy's to play at the next level.coming back in the 08-09 season with only 3 seniors. The junior class will be awesome. Solid pitching, very speedy team, the hitting should be fantastic. Some younger players from a very talented JV squad that won their conference as well will contribute.Coach Brown, will get the best out of these young men that's a promise.

Congratulations! Hopewell is a very young team this year, but are extremely talented. I'm pulling for them to go far this year, but next year will defintely be their year....might be the class of the West!

Tell Coach Brown that Braves sends his love. I've known David a very long time :bowdown2:

With the large number of junior and sophomore showcase players with experience on the national level against 16-18 year olds, there's no reason this couldn't be their year also.

True....and I am not saying they won't. But you made my point. Those juniors and sophs will be one year older and experienced next year. They should be the favorites next year (assuming the new school does not interfere with player movement)

Okay---I really like the way Coach Brown scheduled the opponents this year. One of the toughest and will challenge the team. They should be battle tested by playoff time.

...and good luck on your trip to Columbia. It would be nice to see you guys beat that Pre-Season #1 team

And I'm the proud parent of one of those six playing at the next level. Not only were they awesome on the field last year, they also worked hard in the classroom and in the community. One of their last games was a fundraiser for Strikeout for Troops. (Regarding ink, we just didn't get as much love from the CO as the SW4A seemed to.)

Hopewell went well into the state playoffs beating Alexander Central and Grimsley before losing a hard-fought game to Providence by a score of 2-1. They were conference co-champions with North Meck and had the best record, I believe, in the history of the school.

While scheduling conflicts might keep us from Hopewell games, we will always have a special place in our hearts for the Titans and wish them the greatest of success. I have several former students on this team and can't wait to see all they will do!
