    We have 2 outstanding pitchers that are far an away the best in our area here in the NC 3a north peidmont conference. My question to everyone on this board is providing both are healthy who would you rather have anchoring your pitching staff?

    let the debate begin

    Refer to NPC thread, this subject and many others has already been beaten to death. As for your question, they are clearly the best in the league, you can't even say 1 and 1A,,,,, they are both 1's.

    I've never seen or read where Shive has been hit hard by anyone in the last year. He was dominate in high school and on the showcase circuit.

    Lamoscola, is a lefty, which is always nice to have, but I saw East Rowan hit him hard last year.

    I agree with TJ.....it's a toss up, but these are definately the two best pitchers in the conference with Randy Shepherd a close 3rd.

    i dont recall east rowan beating up on lamoscola last year the first time they played at lake norman he struck out there first 7 batters. then a error and walks lost him that game before being taken out. and the 3rd round of the playoffs he had walks and a error then an occassional hit. east rowan defense just didnt miss anything(not taking anything away from shive hes great) but i just dont recall loma getting rocked did he loose both yes he did but he didnt get hit hard.

    If I was in a draft of high school baseball pitchers in the NPC and drew #2 and the person in front of me took either of these guys, I would still be estatic with whomever was left. I don't think there is much difference. Just like I said before, East won the game I saw 9-4 or 9-3, I can't remember exactly. I think Micah Jarrett hit two homeruns and Lomascola walked Justin Roland 4 times, in what looked like "intentional" unintentional walks. This came back to hurt him, because Roland stole at least 4-5 bases. I think Loma was pulled after about 4 2/3. Between the two, I never saw or heard of Shive having an outing like that, even though Loma wasn't that bad. Both are stars and I am so happy he is going to Catawba next year.

    I think I would take Lamo just because of the lefty bonus. I really doubt any coach would turn down either one of them because for the most part they guarantee a win each time they toe the rubber.

    Well again, these 2 pitchers are CLEARLY tops in the area, the NPC is blessed with some great pitching, and West Rowan has what many coaches would consider 2 aces. However, nobody in the NPC or local area is in the league with Shive or Lomo, those 2 stand alone as true shutdown pitchers. Good hitting teams will hit the others, but Shive/Lomo would slow down any great hitting lineup and they routinely do. I have went on record saying I think Lomo has the better stuff, but its only by a hair. I enjoy watching them both, and plan on doing a lot of that this spring.

    Not to hijack the topic, but since Justin Roland was mentioned I'd like to add something about this boy. I didn't see any player in high school last year that could put as much pressure on a defense as Roland. When we(Rocky Mount) played them last year I cringed every time that kid came to the plate. If there is a stat that records a percentage for scoring after reaching base, then Roland is probably the leader in that category by a wide margin. He was also very good on the mound. By far the most effective vs. RM. Just keeps you off balance constantly.
