    With the temps Make sure the girls warm up and stretch really, really good. We spent 20 minutes yesterday doing so. Cold weather can cause a nagging injury for the entire season .

    Looks like the CVAC will only field 1 definite JV team. According to our AD Newton and West Caldwell were the only other schools that might field a JV team. Not looking to good down that way. We had 25 girls show up and only 2 of them were a danger to themselves. I guess we will have to go out and find some JV games elsewhere.

    Pretty good turnout at North Iredell. Looked like around 20 plus a BB player wasn't there. few more have expressed interest for whatever reason couldn't make it yesterday. Not many starters back for the Raiders which may not be a bad thing. Finally got some excitement in the air for softball in Olin.

    New Coach?

    Isn't there a new coach there at North? Who is she/he? I also heard it could be a long season there, but I hope not. Are they going to be young?

    Good news

    Good news here.....all 11 girls came back and were ready to start on time. Hey, it may not be much to most but it is like gold around here. The new coach is trying hard to make a difference. He has been working on the field all day, bought some new equipment, and was even taking gloves home to break them in.:FOFRBanana0518HL:

    yes new coach. Steve Harkey. Very young, but better than last year IMO. Lets just say they aren't going to roll over and take it anymore. You might beat them but they are going to fight back for a change. Long season??? well we will see. 2 starters return, but as I said earlier...thats a GOOD THING.

    St Stephens

    St Stephens has 18 players out for try-outs and 2 still playing basketball. Doesn't look like there will be a JV team again.

    Players and coaches are really excited about the 2009 season. After making it to the 4th round of the State Play-offs (losing to Southwest Randolph 2-0) St Stephens is ready to challenge for Conference title and make another run in State Play-offs. Saint returns 8 starters (losing only 1 player from last years team), with a solid bench and lots of speed should be a great year. Good luck to all the teams in the CVAC and to all the teams in North Carolina.

    richmond raiders 2nd day of try outs had 39 girls.cuts to be poasted in the
    morning good luck girls.

    tryouts!

    Decent turnout in G'Town. I was worried that we would not have the numbers for JV but looks like we will now. No cuts necessary. Varsity looking pretty good. the girls are excited and more than ready to get started.
