Best Historical NC - SC High School Baseball Parks

I'm going to mention Northwood High School's baseball facilities. It is still a "work in progress", but when completed, will be an awesome place for a kid to play hs baseball.

Already in place is a hitting/training facility that is all under roof.... never miss a practice! It has three full cages plus a soft toss or tee area and has a double mound bullpen. cages are on cables and can be slid back to open up the space to work on infield drills.
New irrigation and infield sod was installed two years ago and is coming into shape nicely.
This year there has been massive construction for the fans with a large amount of brick and concrete work done that will have permanent seating as well as areas for the "bring your chair" crowd. Seating areas are tiered to allow for clear site lines.
Future plans call for a new locker room building just for the baseball team.

As far as existing facilities, I've always liked the previously mentioned ones at Orange, Lee Senior and Fuquay. Also the field at Edenton Holmes, which is used by the CPL's "Edenton Steamers" during the summer is a neat old park.

The worst is (sorry guys) Randleman's field with that damn hill in left! A lot of home field advantage in that park!

 

The mention of Edenton's field reminded me of two other places I have enjoyed coaching and/or watching a game at: Flemming Stadium in Wilson and Municipal Stadium in Tarboro. Both places have undergone improvements in the last 10 years or so to make the game experience even better. It has been a few years since I have been to either place, but always enjoyed them before. I am sure both places are still well taken care of. I guess I will get to see Tarboro again soon enough, as we play them this year.

best wishes to the folks that maintain the playing surfaces! It's no easy task and not cheap. but the results can be very gratifying.

Hopewell High School has one of the best maintained high school fields in the state. It's beautiful!

Bessemer City HS - Great playing surface
MS-Deal MS - Old-timey historical feel
Greensboro Grasshoppers Stadium - new & nice
Shelby HS - gotta love the huge fans

 

The stadium @ Tarboro looks good. They have a new scoreboard and the outfield wall had been upgraded. Centerfield has a mini green monster. Left & Right field is approximately 16' high, and when it gets to C/F it goes to approximately 30-35' high for about a 30 ' length, maybe longer. What team do you coach?
