if they would just open up the "beer gardens" at the fields that share with the CPL teams, Stretchy would never make a bad call!

PHS, my name is Mark Snead and I am the head coach at Roanoke Rapids High School.

Gman's dad, can we keep the "beer gardens" only open to umps. I would hate to see some "fans" after a few trips to the "gardens"...HA.HA.

    Durham Athletic Park

The "old" Durham Athletic Park is currently undergoing a $4 million renovation project. The historical stadium that was home to the movie "Bull Durham" and has hosted thousands of high school and minor league games since 1939, is being renovated into a museum and Minor League headquarters for the MLB as well as to be used as an MLB Umpiring training facility. Additionally, NCCU and Durham Post 7 will use this facility for home games. This facility has been home to many players from me (DHS '77!) to Joe Morgan to Chipper Jones. It will be an awesome place when complete with an entirely new playing surface and renovated seating, etc. Being somewhat nostalgic I was thrilled to hear the city of Durham was awarded this opportunity with the MLB. If you're ever in Durham this summer, ride by and check it out.

thats wonderful what they're doing at the DAP, I just hope Durham PArks and Rec arent the ones in charge of operating the facility. They are the reason it was allowed to get so sh8tty in the first place.

Durham School of the Arts had that as their home field a couple of years ago... maybe again?

I have not been to many of the parks in the west, but in the east I don't think any compare to Fleming Stadium. N.C. State hosted a regional there a few years back. They also have an added bonus by housing the N.C. baseball museum. Grainger stadium in Kinston has not been mentioned here is also a nice old park steeped with history.

By the way, Cary HS (POTENTIAL WISE) could be one of the nicest fields around with work and year-round work. Great setting, down in a hole, surrounded by trees, on campus, etc. I am definitely biased to CHS because its where I am from, but I have talked to several baseball folks around the State who rave about the field's *Potential*.[/quote]
