DD has been getting requests fo a video from some schools. I guess this is common in softball unlike in baseball (sorry fish!) where they say the majority of vids go in the "round file".

In ya'lls experience, what should we do? And, what is the best way to do it? What should it show? What should it not show?

Can't see getting a "pro" to do this... I'd rather spend those bucks sending DD to camps where the coaches can see her "live and in person".

She's a soph. so I guess it's time to get started on this...

Gman- I'm with you about the credibility of a video; no matter how good it is, a recruiter still wants to see the players 'hands on." But a poster, here, came up with a great idea. They developed a website (you can find them for free) and used the website to highlight all the pertinent information a recruiter would want...plus they can keep it updated. The site's only limitation is one's imagination. You can send the website to any coach that shows interest in your DD....and voila!!!!

If they will take the time to watch a video, they certainly will have time to check out a website.

Unusual for video requests even in softball...a college coach i have talked to says she gets hundreds a week and that they are piled up in the corner of the office and that occasionly she gets some of the players to sit down and watch some...here's what you need..make it very short..probably no more than 3-5 mins...if she pitches show a couple of different pitches from a couple of different angles including foot work...hitting show a couple of swings from different angles..back, front, pitcher's perspective etc....and a couple of fielding chances...nothing spectacular..no music..no lighting...just mechanics....HOWEVER do make the package attractive without overdoing...draw attention to it any way possible but try not to be gaudy...and remember the wrong thing caught (by accident) on video can be as much of a detriment as a help....hope this helps Gman

what kind of video equipment is optimal? I am considering purchasing a Sony SR45 from walmart? is this a good digital camera? How long is the battery life on one?

If anyone would like me to preview their video before sending it to scout, I'd be very willing to offer my services.
