    According to the NCHSAA....

    Freedom - 73
    East Gaston - 44

East Mecklenburg won 51-34 over Myers Park, and is up next for Freedom.

The Lady Titans had to come back from an early double digit deficit to pull this one out. Indy was up 13-1 about six minutes into the contest. The girls showed some heart in the second quarter and clawed back into it. Kaitlin Gallion made two shots in a row that probably saved the season for us...that got things going for us. Kaitlin has been such a great asset for us coming off the bench. Autumn Ward stepped up big time tonight and carried us scoring 28 points. She made some huge plays in the second half.

We gotta play a full inspired 32 minutes if we want any shot at Butler.

Better plan on getting off early, Draughn won 54-38.

    Butler vs East Burke

I was impressed with East Burke tonight in a physical basketball game. They played very hard and appeared to be very well coached.

Butler was fairly flat and played without super sophmore Cearra Burdick, who was ill. Watkins was in foul trouble early and with Burdick not suited up for the game, the big height advantage that Butler should have had was not present. 1st half trouble was compounded by a bloody lip to PG Celeste Stewart requiring her to miss a fair amount of time. J Forney had 16 points in the 2nd quarter to save Butler.

East Burke was much smaller but played harder. Their effort was impressive and then won the battle for the loose balls. I am guessing they had 25 points from the free throw line. They shot the ball very well in the 1st & 2nd quarter.

Butler's depth was tested again and they received a pretty impressive outing by several reserve players: Quay Burino and Morgan Geisler.
